Alice in Wonderland 2 - Tim Burton

Johnny Depp-fronted Alice in Wonderland 2 is set for a May 27, 2016 release.


Alice in Wonderland 2 will re-team Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska as the Mad Hatter and Alice. James Bobin (The Muppets), however, will take over directing duties from Tim Burton. The first film hit theaters in March of 2010 and went on to gross over $1 billion worldwide. May 2016 is also largely unclaimed territory, aside from an untitled Disney/Marvel release planned for May 6, 2016.

I hope they had a damn good reason for changing directors! Tim Burton was the reason the new film can be separated from the old. Now it could end up feeling like nothing more than a tech upgrade.

I kind of like the change. No hate on Tim, but maybe a fresh set of eyes will help it as a franchise. Remember, Harry Potter went through a couple directors, also.

And they should have stuck with Alfonso Cuaron after the third

I guess it's too early to judge anyway. We'll have to wait and see

Arrgh. The first Alice movie was underwhelming enough. Now with the director of that drippy Muppet movie in charge...yeah, I'm gonna pass on this one.
