What are your thoughts on the new ride? I was an International Program CM from November 1999 to February 2000, working as a Custodial at Frontierland and Adventureland. I loved that particular area where they built Aladdin because it was basically free. You had a passageway to Frontierland, you had the best Character Greeting Area in the park (in my opinion), Jungle Cruise down the stairs Tiki Room up ahead, some stands... Now I hear everything's got an Agrabbar feel to it. Lame, Disney, lame...

I haven't seen it first hand but I don't like the idea of it at all. However Disney is known for it's capability to mesh diferent themes. Adventurland being one of those places where they had to do so. So i'm sure there's still the old jungle feel there was before...to my knowledge there is basically only an area with the agrabah theming so maybe it isn't too bad....I hope.

I didn't honestly have a problem with it...didn't really detract from my Adventureland experience...but it can get a bit crowded there in the afternoon...with the walkway not being as wide as it used to be.

I have a couple of problems with it.

I dislike that the area is so crowded now. The carpets take up a lot of the room that was there. It makes getting around pretty tough when it comes to having lots of little kids and strollers around.

The color is so bright. The ride kind of sticks out. Every thing else is older looking and no where near as bright. I wish that either the colors were different or appear to be aged (metal appears rusted). The rest of Adventureland appears that is olden looking. It could work because Aladdin is a ancient tale.

That's pretty much what I figured. Even though the concept of Aladdin fits with Adventureland, they should've made it so to fit with the AREA as much as the concept.

I like how they fit it into that big open courtyard area of Adventureland. It's another attraction, I'm always for a new attraction, no matter what it is.

It wasn't that bad of a ride.

I would be happier with the ride if it was not another Dumbo type ride

I'm really excited to see it. I know a lot of you out there love the "bigger" rides, i.e. the mountains and AE, etc. so to you, another Dumbo type ride is considered lame. But to me, because I have young children who love the newer Disney movies as well as the older ones, another Dumbo ride based on Aladdin is music to our ears!!!!! We cannot wait to go!!!! It will be magical for me and my son who LOVES Aladdin!!!! I am so glad Disney did this!

Well, I really have nothing against kiddie rides. In fact, I think it's a shame that they even think about replacing kiddie or family rides just to please a couple of adrenalin-crazed teens.
As to Aladdin, I really hope it is good. I just think I'll miss the space it was placed in.

The majority of the area where Alladin is now, other than the Tiki Room, already had the North Africa/Desert/Agrabha style to it.

All they did was add the Tent Canpies to the front of them, they didn't change ONE thing of the deisgn of any of the shop facades in this area no matter what people think.

Adventureland haas always been a mixture of Brisitsh Colonial Carribean, near the entranace, to North African Desert, to Polynesian, to Spanish Colonial, the African Jungle theme really is only on the lower elvel near Jungle Cruise.

They did get rid of the Character Greating area, but the area was turned backing to a shop, which is what it was for around 26 years before the "let's line up for characters" craze started.

I was working at MK during Jan to June 2001 doing custodial. I got to see the ride being built and was also a test dummy on the ride. I got to go on it before the cast perview days. I think that the ride is okay, just a high tech dumbo.

on another thread, Mr. Promey posted that you can see the lamp from this ride in Frontierland...take a look over toward Adventureland from the queue for Big Thunder...THAT is something that should not have happened...they need to shorten the pole the lamp is on by about a foot...additionally, I don't honestly have a problem with TriceraTop Spin. I mean, it's only one spinning ride as opposed to Magic Kingdom's three. After Beastlie opens, Animal Kingdom will have enough attractions for this ride to not really matter. What gets to me is Walt Disney Studios Paris. They have...I think three rides...TOTAL. And one of them is that Aladdin ride. That's where it presents a problem, in my mind. Doesn't seem like there's much to do at WDSP.
