According to this review, Jessica Simpson and her husband sing the title track to "Whole New World".

I'm sincerely hoping that the reviewer meant that they included that as an extra, NOT replaced the original vocals in the movie.

If so, is NOTHING sacred anymore? Why not have Mike Meyers rerecord the Genie dialogue, that certainly would be very "HIP" of the marketing department.

Sorry guys, it's true.

They premiered the video on Friday after "That's so Raven." I didn't see it, because frankly I'm sick of the sight of them :hurl:.

Edit: From what I can tell, it's kind of like when the Disney Channel people did "Circle of Life." So it probably is kind of like an extra.

It won't be replacing the vocals in the movie. That would be very stupid. It will just have Jessica Simpson and husband singing it in the extras like that one lady did singing "Some Day my Prince Will Come" in the extras of the Snow White DVD.

Barbra Streisand? I think it was her.

Yeah I figured it wasn't actually replacing the original song, because that'd be insane.

This is JUST an extra on the disc. If they replaced Brad Kane and Lea Salonga in the film, there would be mass rioting. Now, I hate Jessica Simpson, but I've heard from a level-headed fellow Aladdin fan that it's actually a decent cover. I haven't seen it myself, cause I couldn't brining myself to watch Raven, so I'll have to wait and see. :p

Wow, at first I thought they were going to replace the Regina Bell and Peabo Bryson version during the end credits. *whew* Glad it's just going to be an extra.

Fear not all, my version of the song will still be the original .

Before I get weird looks from you all, it's a joke...my name is Regina also . Just in case you didn't notice my signature .

Whew, thankfully this sounds like an extra, whih I can deal with. Granted, I'll never watch it, but as long as it doesn't screw with the movie.

To this day I've never even watched the Lion King DVD since I heard about how disastorous it turned out (bad menu layout, pathetic extras, changes to the original animation, etc.)

Well, I'm excited for Aladdin to come out...complete with Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey and Clay Aiken. I enjoy all three of the those artists...and I'm sure I"ll be hearing a lot of their songs on the DVD at The Disney Store while I work!

Its bad enough that Jessica and Nick are on there.

But when I logged onto AOL and a video of Clay started playing and I heard one note from an Aladdin song, I quickly shoved a pen in my ear to destract myself from the sight and sound of him destroying a classic.

I thought Clay was doing the "lost" song.....with him singing it, it will always be lost to me. Could not pay me to hear him sing.

Yeah, he's doing "Proud of Your Boy" as another extra on the DVD. I agree - I can't stand him. But I got a copy of this song and I thought he did a good job. I much rather would have heard Brad (or Caleb, as he apparently goes by now) Kane sing it.
