Hey! Last summer my family and I visited WDW for I believe the 18 or 19 time (at least for myself). Well we always stay at Carribean Beah..its the best. Well whenever a new resort opens we like to go check it out..so we took a day and went over to animal kingdom lodge and had lunch and just checked out the resort. i really like it ..it had a really good theme and the food court and restaurants are very nice. The only thing that I noticed was that U can barley ever see the animals we stood and looked for a while but didn't c many animals. All in all I liked the resort.
just wanted to tell u all what I thought of it.
:) :slurp:  :sohappy:

Thanks for posting the Aniimal Guide and the pics!

We are going with two other friends in July and staying at AKL for the first time! I can't wait!

:sohappy:

You're gonna love it! :sohappy:

We are just beginning to plan our October trip now. We are deciding to do the beginning of October, which is what we ussally do, or later in October so we can take in the Food and Wine festival. We've never been to it.

Does anyone know how bad the crowds are during the F&W? The beginning of October (except for the weekends) have very low attendence. We're not sure we wish to give up the low attendence for the F&W if it can get real busy at that time.

Any sugestions are welcome!

AKL is the one of the best hotels on Disney Property IMO. Every morining looking out onto the savannah and seeing a giraffe or two eating their breakfast. Another good aspect of the hotel is found in the evening. In the lobby, the smells that come from the two restaurants Boma and Jiko are amazing.

AKL looks fantastic, the resort and AK I think seems really out of the way from everything else... is this the case, is transportation to and from the parks good?

I don't think so. The only issues I have, and this is with Disney Transport in general is that if you want to get from one Resort to another, it can be difficult.

We usally just drive the car form resort to resort instead of using the busses in those cases.

We were at Epcot for the Food & Wine Festival the 2nd week of Nov. 2002. Very low attendance, great food & wine. Good weather. Definitely going back next fall!
Also stayed at AKL concierge that trip. Can't praise it enough. Bus transportation to & from parks is great, but you are very much removed from everything else. Who cares? AKL has it all!

Thanks Eljay! I've read so many good things about F&W, but I also read that crowds can be a problem. And that is one of the reasons we go in October is to avoid large crowds.

But we always see WDW gearing up for F&W, but never stayed long enough to experiance it. Last year we left 4 days before it started. I'm also assuming it's busy the first weekend of F&W, but the weekdays are normal Octber crowds.

I agree on the busses. To the parks it great. We have had a few long waits getting back from DD. And getting to other resorts can be a pain, but like I stated before, we find driving over to other resorts easier. Heck, I know all the roads with my eyes closed now.
