AKL Running

Instead of bumping a 3 year old thread I thought I'd see where thing stood these days...

Any running trails at Animal Kingdom Lodge? And along the same lines is the gym crowded or are you typically able to get a treadmill easily?

6 days...

Thanks!

No running trails. But I don't think I've ever seen the gym crowded.

Bummer. But that is good about the gym. We'll only be there three nights and I might not even make it, but figured if DW and DDs wanted to swim, I go run a bit.

In my experience, the only gym that you'd need to worry about the number of machines is Old Key West. If I remember, there were only 4 treadmills and one of them wasn't functioning during our visit. Other than OKW, I've never had a problem with crowded gyms at WDW.

Agree, bummer there's no trail. Let us know what you think about the gym at AKL, especially weights and equipment other than treadmills, ellipticals and bikes. If there's nothing for upper body, hopefully there will be some weights and a bench or balls. I'm staying in January for 5 days, about a month before the Princess Half weekend and will need to maintain my training schedule. Will be my first stay at AKL and I will be able to say that I've stayed at every DVC resort in WDW.

Enjoy your trip!

I've never seen more than 2 or 3 people in the gym when I've been there. No trails, but you can run from Jambo to Kidani and back again, throwing in a few laps around the parking lot. It's maybe 1/2-3/4 of a mile, so you may need to do a few of those..

As others have said, no running at AKL. Huge bummer. As large as that building is, I felt claustrophobic in that the open Guest areas are few.

Gym was never too crowded, great weight room for a Resort.

Despite my best intentions, we were at the parks daily from 8:30 til 10. And no additional running took place! :( We did however walk 8-10 miles a day. (As an aside, akl is amazing!!!!)

Made it to the beach today. Hot. Hoping for an after sunset jog!

Did you manage to make it to the gym at AKL? If so, your thoughts. I'll be there a week after Marathon weekend and will be using the gym. Thank goodness the Saturday I drive home isn't a long mile run, just 4 miles with a magic mile. That might just become a Sunday run. ;)

Wish I could say yes. But alas I didn't even find it. Needless to say ill be paying for my lack of exercise.

AKL is about relaxation, not running!

I'm into fitness. Fit'n'ess zebra dome in my mouth.

We are our weight in zebra domes. Wanted to see what they were all about. Awesome. Our first night they were a pre-dinner appetizer. :)
