Hello, I'm staying at AKL on Sunday and have not stay there yet. I would love to know the pros and cons of this resort. I love to take pictures, so when would be a good time to see the feeding of the animals etc?

Hi Brenna! We've stayed at AKL several times and love it! I can't get the family to stay anywhere else now. The only con I can think of is the location. It is far removed from everything except the AK park. If you have a rental car, you have no worries. Bus service is exclusive (or it was..with current cutbacks, I can't say for sure) to the lodge so it's pretty good, but we always have a rental so transportation isn't an issue for us.

It has amazing theming and ambiance. The first time you walk into the lobby, it will definitely take your breath away. And the rooms are very nice with great theming in the decor. If you can get a savannah view room, it is so nice to wake up early and go out on the balcony and watch the animals up close.

Boma has a fabulous buffet and Jiko is exceptional in atmosphere and the food.

The pool isn't overly impressive. It is very nice, but probably the one area where I think they could have put a bit more effort into effective theming.

Regarding the feeding times for the animals, we've seen them dropping off food on the savannah early in the am, but other than that, I can't give you a time. I'm sure someone here will know that though.

Have a magical time!!

Cons?

I loooove AKL. Boma is delicious, I haven't tried Jiko, but I'm sure it is too. There are so many things to do just walking around.

As for the animals, you'll probably see them most in the morning and again in the evening - they don't like to be hot. But you will be able to see most of each animal at any point in the day.
If you don't have a savannah room, try to look into that when you check in. I know they offered one to my family when we checked in, and I don't think it cost extra. We ended up on the bottom floor, as close to the animals as possible.
There's also the storytellers outside at night. Again, I didn't get a chance to see them, but I hear they are very good.
I'm always blown away by the theming of that resort. I'm sure you'll find plenty of picture opportunities while you stay there.

Have fun!!!
