AKL or Wilderness Lodge!?

Hey everyone!
I read the forums almost everyday but this is my first post!
I have a huge decision to make by tonight and would really love to hear some of your opinions!
So excited my that after months of me begging everyone my boyfriend and parents decided it would be cool for all of us to go to disney together in 37 days!!!! I get to choose between AKL or Wilderness!!!!!
What would you pick?!

Welcome to the forum. Hope you have fun on it.

We love AKL (have stayed there twice and will be staying there again in September). The resort is amazing and there are lots of things going on during the day...plus the animals. The downside is that is a bit far out from most of the parks (except, of course, for AK). If we had to choose between the two, we'd pick AKL.

I think both are beautifully designed but I have only stayed at WL because I really don't like the location of AKL. It seems so far away from where I want to be. I spend most of my time at the MK so Wilderness Lodge is a better location for me.

I think either one you stay at you will enjoy. And then there is always the next time....:)

Welcome to the forum! So exciting to be going to the world in 37 days.
Both resorts are amazing, but I feel like I have been transported to another world (or at least continent) when I go to AKL. It's amazing, both in large details (savannah, lobby) as well as the little details (African music playing in the lobby, beautiful African artwork and African proverbs, giraffe-patterned carpet, etc). It's an excellent place for resort-only days.

They both are beautiful and our favorite resorts. You'd be happy at either. I have a hard time deciding too, and we rotate them primarily.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the upcoming trip. Like others have said above, I have to disclose I am also biased. Our home away from home is always Wilderness Lodge. In fact, we will be checking in one month from today (Yay!!!!). We love everything about it...the theme, location, small intimate feeling, the theme, boat to the MK, oh and did I mention the theme. Now in all fairness, we have been to the AKL for dinner at Jiko and we will be ending our trip there again this year but my DH said he just can't see himself staying there. I would probably give it a try as it caught my attention with all the animals. Either way, they were designed by the same group so you really can't go wrong with whichever one you choose.

We have actually stayed at both but its been such a long time, The past couple years we have stayed at Epcot resorts and POLY! I truly appreciate all this advice more than you know!
I'll be sure to let everyone know what we decide!!

Haven't stayed at any,but visited both..Toss a coin...Both blew me away,if I had to choose,it would be WL as for its position in the bubble.Thats the only thing I didn't like about AKL.The distance from resort to other lands.

Your right, Magic Kingdom and monorail is very convenient from WL. It was one great perk. After staying at BWV in May, which was great, I think now it's AK and WL when we can afford it. Just like the atmosphere of both hotels. Can't go wrong with either. There is a show on Netflix called Wild at Heart that is based out of Africa. Every time I watch it I want to be at AK.

Both are my favorite! Wow tough to choose! However, this last trip I realized how far away AKL is. WL is so close to everything and you have the boat option. Oh how I wish I could have just gotten on a boat at 1am and gone to WL instead of waiting for a bus! Just for that reason I would choose WL. You can always visit AKL for a little animal watching and some great food! AKL is close to property exit so we were able to run out to target and get groceries with no problem. So I guess it did have its own location advantages.

Both are beautiful. But if I couldn't afford the savannah view at akl then I would opt for wl. Good luck on your decision.
