AKL is also one of our home resorts and i loved it at thanksgiving! We woke up Thanksgiving morning and the huge christmas tree had magically appeared fully decorated overnight. The resorts are decorated at different times, but it should definitely be decorated by thanksgiving day. Enjoy a warm beverage by the fireplace or firepit!

Yeah. I'm not looking forward to the crowds. BUT I am looking forward to some corn pudding. IDK if it will be cold enough for warm beverages by then. :depressed:

The crowds from the wkend before Thanksgiving to Monday were fine the times that we went. Wed to Sat are the busiest. For the temp, we had highs from 65 to 80. .

Have fun! We went to Jiko for Thanksgiving in 2009. AKL is where it's at!

FWIW, we didn't think the crowds were too bad. Definitely lots of people there but not as insane as we expected. :)

I will not be staying at a resort, but I'll probably be going the Friday after Thanksgiving. I know that the crowds will be rough, but it will still be better than store sales or eating leftovers.

We went over Thanksgiving and it was crowded but nothing we couldn't handle. Just go to the parks early to get in the most popular stuff with less wait time. Good choice for Boma, one of my favorites!

We've stayed Thanksgiving week before, and we will be doing it this year too! It's really not all that bad. Last time, it was very light in the parks until WED/THURS. And, even then, the crowds are usually manageable with common sense and flexibility.

Also, AKL is amazing. Boma and Jiko are two of my favorite restaurants, plus the counter-service option there is definitely a step above most. Plus, you just feel awesome waking up and looking around every morning. Even heading out towards the bus stop is fun when you get to go through that lobby.

Suggestions:
You might want to get back to the hotel early on at least one night and sit at one of the fireplaces that overlook the savannah.
Jiko is amazing. It's expensive (though you might be on Free Dining?), but it's very worth it --- especially if you want a more reserved/quiet/romantic type of meal.
The bar is pretty decent, and it's a great place to go after the parks or while you're waiting to be seated at Boma/Jiko.
Finally... for the 'busy' days: get up early, hit the parks and do your dining or resting when then crowds (and weather) start getting to be a bit more difficult. When you're re-charged, go back out to the parks to get the night-time atmosphere. (Also, hope for extended hours! Last time we were there for Thanksgiving week, there were multiple times that MK was extended to midnight.)

We will be at AKL on Thanksgiving day thru Sunday morning. Then we leave for the Disney Dream for a four night cruise. I haven't done Thanksgiving week since 04 when we got married at WL the day after Thanksgiving. It wasn't so busy then but alot changes in 9 years. I am still hoping to have a wonderful time and just enjoy it.
