AK EMH...wwyd?

My FP+ window opens up this Thursday so I'm pinning down our plan!

It's a quick 5 day/6 night trip and we've never been during the holidays, yay!

Wanted to do AK in the morning and HS in the evening on day 2 as day 3 will be MVMCP and the other days will be spent at MK and EP....

However, it's EMH morning at AK that day...EasyWDW has it listed as park to avoid but TP has it listed at the lowest crowd level of all the parks, a 3!

Do I really need to avoid that park that day? Will we need to be there at 8am for the 1st hour or can we wait til 9?

All we are looking to do there is Everest, Safari and festival of LK...we are only planning a few hours there and want to use our FP+ that day for HS....

WWYD?

I've never had an issue with EMH being crazy at Animal Kingdom, though I have never traveled to WDW at that time of year. That being said - if you are set on going to AK on that specific day, I would say get there at 8. I would plan to head straight to the safari since that line tends to get out of hand early, then go to Everest immediately after. I wouldn't waste my FP on AK either, save it for Toy Story @ HS!

I'm also one that plans my trip around EMH, and visit each park on their early open/late nights! I want to soak up as much Disney as possible in the time I am there :)

Psychology in action here -
If a park has morning EMH then everybody stays away because everybody thinks its going to be busy, however, if everybody who stays away thinks everybody else is staying away then everybody will go and it will be busy !!!

If you have FP+ booked for your chosen rides at AK then you only need to go in for rope drop / park opening if you want to do a load of other stuff before it opens to the public. If you're only bothered about doing the three attractions, then go in when it suits

If you have EMH hours at AK and want to hit 3 attractions, don't waste your FP-'s at AK at all. Hit the Safari first because it's feeding time and the other 2 favorites then the outliers and head for another park.... This will re-enforce the half day mentality that AK instills in all it's regular guests and will drive TWDC to work faster at fleshing out this park....

Thank you for your support in forcing park development.

P.S. Yak and Yeti for an early lunch is awesome..... they open at 11am...

EMH in AK is a joy IF you remember to do the safari first (feeding time as mentioned, lots of animals hide or go to sleep for most of the day and only become active in the evening... its adaptation to hot weather but they do it year round), then Expedition Everest (you can get as many rides as you care with almost no wait until 9 when the rest of the guest arrive), then its a toss up with Nemo (right up the hill) or Festival of the Lion King's (right beside the Safari behind the Tuskerhouse/Dawa Bar {Killer morning Bloody Marys and I dont drink much these days} first shows at 11.

No need to avoid AK for EMH. In fact, I'd recommend it!

We visited in May during EMH on a day with a crowd rated 6 out of 10 (with 5 being average) -- got there late, in fact, due to a bus snafu, and didn't walk into the AK until 8:30am -- and still were able to start with Kilimanjaro Safaris (10 min. wait), Expedition Everest (twice, walk-on, while the non-daredevils walked the Pangani and Maharajah trails), Kali River Rapids (10 minute wait), Triceratop Spin (walk-on), Dinosaur (15 min. wait, longest we saw in the AK all morning) and the Finding Nemo Show, all before lunchtime.
