Just wanted to get some opinions. I have 2 choices for AK dining... Yak and yeti in AK OR Boma at AKL. Buffets are big hits with my BF but not my parents... However i feel Boma would be the best way to try African cuisine with my picky BF. We also have Yak and Yeti on the table, i feel everyone would find something they like here. I've never been to either. In terms of food, accessibility, ambiance, ect which would you choose? Feel free to make other suggestions as well!

Just FYI: Boma is at Animal Kingdom Lodge while Yak n Yeti is at Animal Kingdom Park.

Now that we have that cleared up: Y&Y would be my choice. And if your family doesn't like buffets then stear clear of Boma. Now if you do want to try African food I'd suggest Sanaa at AKL-Kidani or Jiko at AKL-Jambo. :) enjoy!

I don't see any reason to waste time or money going to BOMA or Sanaa with a "picky eater." They are places for adventurous eaters to try things new and different. Yes, you can find something for just about anyone at BOMA, but why waste the money?

Only have one picky eater in the group of 4... He isnt the pickiest eater ever... just veggies are a no go really. Don't want everyone else to miss out on a great dining experience just because of one person but also don't want anyone meal to go to waste.

Here is the menu for dinner at Sanaa. I will let you be the judge of if it's somewhere you'd like to dine with someone who is kind of picky.

I ate at Boma in 2013 and absolutely loved it! ZEBRA DOMES. That's all I gotta say!!

I will eat a yak and yeti in about 25 days, so I'll let you know which I preferred LOL

Boma today. Boma tomorrow. Boma forever.

Seriously, it's incredible. It's our favourite restaurant at WDW. Some of the food is African-ish, but it's definitely not overpowering so anybody who's picky should be fine. It's a massive buffet with a ton of selections. The curry pasta salad might be my favourite part. The desserts are amazing too.

Give it a shot. You'll wanna keep going back.

I disagree, I am a picky (meat and potatoe type) eater and I am fine with Boma. I wouldn't say it is one of my favorites but I find enough that I enjoy to leave happy and full.

For me and my budget, it would not make sense to spend that kind of money and only eat a couple of things when there is so much variety and so many different things to try. If I was a meat and potato type I would go somewhere else and spend much less, but that is just me.

If I was eating alone, I would agree. But most of us eat with others that are more adventurous and us picky eaters tend to try and compromise. I was trying to answer the OP question from the point of view of her BF who is a picky eater.

I had the steak at Sanaa last week with seasonal vegetables. The steak was flavored well although they overcooked it. I always order medium well but apparently it's difficult bc I typically get it well done. If I order medium, it has too much red. Call me Goldielocks :) I haven't been to Boma yet since my plans were messed up by Hurricane Matthew but I think Sanaa is a nice break from the parks, it overlooks the savannah at Kidani, and the food is great. But my favorite place in the AK area is actually Tusker House. It's a character buffet but they have plenty of options - and they have good items on the children's buffet for picky eaters and several choices at the carving station. The first time we went, he was a picky eater and found plenty to eat.

He is the same! Loves a medium well but never seems to come out quite right. I actually thought of Tusker house but i am worried it may be character meal overload for my parents, but maybe it wont be, i think i will suggest it to see what they say :) Thanks for the feedback!

I've only ever had the breakfast buffet at Boma, but it was one of the best breakfasts/buffets I've ever had.

While it's a character meal, I never felt like it was if that makes sense. Because the characters come close together, room by room, it never felt rushed or the focus was just on the characters. It was a more relaxed character buffet experience than someplace like Crystal Palace or Hollywood and Vine. I wanted to go to Tusker House this trip at a time when we could get the end of the breakfast buffet and the beginning of their lunch selections but my husband wanted to try something different this trip. Next time, I'm going back to Tusker House! What other character meals are you doing?
