AK Day planning question

Funny how these questions come to you...

Ever since AK has been open we have gone to WDW in mid to late May. On our first of these trips we were told when you go to AK to head straight for the Safari, you'll see more animals early in the day and less as the day goes on because most will take shelter from the midday heat.

This time we are going in late Feb/early March when it's of course much cooler. We were still planning to head for the KS first as we noticed the line usually gets worse as the day goes on. However for KS it's all about the animals, so does anyone know how the cooler weather effects the habits of the animals? Is early still better than later for seeing a large number of animals?

In my experience, the animals like the cold weather. Now, I wouldn't expect them to be out if it is 30 or 40 degrees outside but I doubt you will have that problem in Feb/March.

The cold weather is more of a factor for the human animals on the ride.

One December when we went on the safari ride as soon as AK opened, the temperature was in the 30's. It was so cold all you could think about was getting the ride over. It was like "Forget Little Red. Just get me back to where it's warm !"

We took the safari when the temperature was in the 40's. We saw lots of animals - even the lions. I heard that the lion rock is heated so lots of lions were on top. The cold weather made it more adventurous as well. It seemed like a real safari with us all bundled up in big jackets & stockign caps.

I believe the rock is kept at a constant moderate temperature. So when it's cold out it's a warm place for them to lay, and when it's hot out, it's a cool place.
