Airtran seating

I have heard that their seating is random and there is no guarantees that you will be sitting with the rest of your party if you book tickets with them. I have flown Airtran before and had no problems but it has been a while so I'm not sure if this is a new thing or just a rumor I have heard. Any info would be appreciated.

There are no guarentees that your entire party will be seated together, but if you check in online as soon as you are allowed to then you should never have a problem. Its only when you show up at the airport and check-in where you run the risk of being seperated.

We typically travel as a party of four-all adults, 2 married couples. However, my last name is different than my husbands name. It seems that the flights we are on always have the 2 seats/aisle/3 seats. Our friends and my husband always get the 3 seats and I always get the seat with the stranger on the 2 seats side across from them.

I guess it is just AirTran's way of telling me I should go ahead and legally change my last name.;)

Give Airtran a call- they can pre-assign the seats for you so you are seated together. They only allow passengers to do this when you check in(online or at the airport). I have done this in the past when I have traveled for work.
