Airtran E-ticket/Paper ticket question: Answered!

Just some info for all of you that will be using Airtran and booking your flights through WDW in the future,

the tickets are ALL paper tickets.

I know there was a debate on here a while back as to whether you recieved paper tickets in the mail or e-tickets. After I called WDW today to confirm some things for my trip next weekend, I was asked if I recieved my plane tickets in the mail. I certainly never did, and was told that they were mailed in Febuary!
Of course the CM was awesome and said they would have them switched to E-tickets and they would pay the fee to do so. But word to the wise, if you book your flight through WDW on Airtran, keep an eye on the mail!!

I'm sorry, but that CM gave you incorrect information. You will receive paper CONFIRMATION by mail, but you will not receive a ticket by mail. AirTran charges for paper tickets, and E-tickets are free.

If there is any confusion, call and ask to speak with Amy Sheng in Air Help. She's wonderful and will clear up any confusion you have.

Again, I do appologize, but that CM had it backwards. E-tickets are free, PAPER tickets have a charge for them. All information in One Source and in the DRC Training Binder specifically says what I just mentioned.

Not to mention, if you were speaking to someone NOT in air-help, they were full of crap, because they cannot see in dreams or Siebel when something was mailed to you. They can see when your call was made, or when things were processed, but they cannot see when it was mailed unless they are in Air Help or Guest Services.

Here's some additional info on AirTran (FL)

If a guest specifically requests seats assignments on their AirTran booking, please contact Air Operations at (xxxx) for assistance. Air Operations will supply the AirTran record locator to the guest, so they can contact AirTran reservations at (1-800-247-8726) or 678-254-7999, and select their seats. The guest will be charged approximately $10.00 roundtrip per seat request payable via credit card to AirTran.

It WAS in air help, not just a regular CM.

If this is the case, then why did she say they would call Airtran and have it switched at their expense? Also when I called Airtran directly I was told the EXACT same information the CM told me. Why would both of them make up the same info?

Paper confirmation? Never recieved that either.

And if I read the above correctly, the phone numbers and info you posted are for SEAT ASSIGNMENTS, not regular tickets.

No offense to you, but I will go with what WDW has told me. Either way, we will be able to get on the flight.

Do you know who in Air Help it was? I'll be at the DRC next week and can speak with them to see if there have been changes that Amy has not made me aware of. Also, yes, as my note above says, those numbers are for seat assignments, as a courtesy to you and others that read these posts and may have booked through AirTran. Hence the part that says "Here's some additional info on AirTran (FL)"

I understand that you want to believe the CM you spoke with, and maybe something has changed since the last time I was at the DRC (It's been a bit over a month and half), but how did you get in touch with Air Help? Typically, guests are not transfered directly to them, and there's no direct outside line, only tie lines.

To Clarify...

WDTC issues e-tickets for all airlines except Air Tran Airways. Currently, Air Tran Airways does not have the functionality of permitting e-tickets via the GDS. Air Tran Airways does not charge a fee for paper tickets.

I think everything here is cleared up but I would just like to chime in with my own experience.

I too booked my AirTran flight through a travel agency (AAA in my case) and was issued a Paper ticket. My agent told me the way AirTran works is if an agent books the flight you get paper tickets. If you book your own flight online you get an e-ticket.

I think they are working on getting an all e-ticket system but do not have it yet.

In the mean time one other thing my agent suggested is to be very careful when handing in the paper ticket. Make sure they only take the ticket for the current flight. If they accidentally take the ticket for the return trip (and you don't catch it) there is no way to reprint it and you will have to pay for a one-way ticket back home.

I was also told the same info by Air Operations regarding the paper vs. eticket dispute.

I received paper tickets in April for my flight next week. I also received paper tickets for my flight last year on AirTran also.
