Airlines...best and worst in getting you to WDW

This is the 2nd time that our family will be traveling to WDW via Spirit Airlines. What airlines have you used in the past that you would use again or vow to never use again? If it wasn't for the free tickets we got from Spirit for overbooking our return flight home last August, we likely wouldn't be using them again.

Yesterday I was reminded of one of the reasons why I love Southwest. We have a trip to Disney's resort in Hilton Head coming up and I originally booked our return flight home from Charleston for $184 for each of us. I've been checking that flight a few times a week since then and yesterday it dropped to down to $129 per person! Less than 5 minutes later we were rebooked and now we each have a $56ish credit! Yesssssssss. :)

I leave out of Philly and primarily use Air Tran. Southwest is second. I was a huge USAir guy but with their base fares + seat selection fee's + baggage fee's, never again. I prefer AT since they usually have the earliest flight out of Philly and I don't mind paying the upgrade fee.

I use Virgin Atlantic to get from LGW to MCO. Not a bad airline, but LGW is frustrating to get to from where I live.

Took public transport back from LGW last time. Almost spent the same amount of time either waiting for a coach or on a coach back to Cambridge than I did on the flight back from Orlando!

I have used JetBlue the last two times flying from Newark. Its either about the same or a bit more than United, but the service is better, there is free DirectTV, free checked bag, and the seats are just so much more comfortable. Leaving Newark they did a pretty good job of leaving on time too. Coming back I get delayed, but I have never been on a flight flying into Newark that was not delayed at least an hour. My worst Orlando to Newark delay (Supposed to leave at 1:30, left at 6:30) was with JetBlue however.

I can't fly Virgin to Orlando, but I flew with them to LA for a business trip and it was just as good as JetBlue with the addition of having wifi.

I flew Spirit out of Atlantic City once and we payed less, but the fees were just everywhere, the seat was designed by someone with scoliosis, and customer service sucked.

That was our experience with all three of the local airports when we lived in the Metro-NYC area. The later in the day, the longer the delays. Things just get backed up there daily with all the back-and-forth commuter flights.

We've flown United, American and Spirit. At this point, all airlines seem to be a pain in the @@@. Any one of them will mess with your itinerary, seat selection, whatever they have to do to ensure themselves the most profit. Check bag fees, carryon bag fees, overweight bag fees, extra leg room fees, etc. We don't drive because of the time wasted all the way from Chicago, but if it were possible, I'd rarely fly.
