Airline Boarding Pass from WDW Resorts

I don't know if this is a proper subject question for this section of the forum...but. I will be getting my families airline boarding passes 24 hrs before flight time, via internet (Southwest ..very important to do this, I think.) My question is .. since I won't be taking a laptop is there a mechanism, in place, to obtain boarding passes the Friday before our return flight?? Perhaps through guest services or a 1 day rental of computer, or something??

Just ask at the desk and they will print them for you - we always fly Southwest and have always had our passes printed out for us.

Have a great time!

If you have a web-enabled cell phone, you can check in at mobile.southwest.com to claim your boarding group and number, and then print the physical pass out at the airport kiosks.

Even if you are at the parks you will be able to get them printed. My mother and I got our Southwest passes printed out at Guest Services at the Magic Kingdom the last time we were there. The cast members were very helpful!! :)

I am not 100% sure if this applies for the situation of the OP but, however the last time I was at the World several groups of people held up the airline check in line. All people over the age of 18 MUST be present when doing the airline check in at your resort. A few people had the ID's of family members who were off getting breakfast at the food court!!!! So of course someone had to go run and get them and bring them back so their identies could be verified before the check in procedure could be completed!!! Belle

I tried using resort check-in back in February, but for some reason they only had me and no the other two members of my party in the system. I was scared they had lost their reservations or something, but they popped right up at the airport.

We seem to be confusing two very separate services here.

The OP is flying Southwest and was merely asking if there was any way to check-in online 24 hours in advance. This can be done by Lobby Concierge (formerly Guest Services) at any resort or at Guest Services at a park or DTD.

There is also a Disney service called Resort Airline Check-in (RAC), in which people flying on one of a select group of "participating" airlines can check-in for their flight AND check through their luggage to their final destination. RAC is exactly like curbside check-in, only it's in your WDW resort lobby and not at the curbside at the airport.

RAC is very different from checking in 24 hours in advance with your airline in order to get a favorable seat assignment. RAC can only be done same day, and the transaction must be completed no later than 4 hours prior to flight time. The RAC desk at each resort is open from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This means that anyone on a departing flight before 9:00 a.m. is inelegible to use RAC even if they are flying on a "participating airline" (and since the transaction takes several minutes and must be completed by no later than 4 hours prior to flight time, for al practical purposes you really can't use it for flights that leave before about 9:15 a.m.).

Southwest is not one of the "participating airlines" and thus the OP is not eligible to use RAC.

Thanks to everyone. I've received the answer that I was hoping for. I also have a web enabled cell phone as a back up. A quick question. Does the GF have terminals that you can use for a brief time (rent) or is it just better to have the Lobby Concierge do the deed, so to speak!

Resort check-in is actually no less than 3 hours prior to departure time!
It used to be 3 hours ... it changed to 4 hours about a month ago.

They also made another change ... it used to be that you couldn't use RAC any earlier than 12 hours prior to flight time, but they took away that restriction (although it still has to be same-day). In other words, it used to be that if you had a 10:00 p.m. departing flight you couldn't check-in at RAC before 10:00 a.m. that day, but nowadays you could use RAC at 5:00 a.m. for that 10:00 p.m. flight if you really want to.

If I can find the exact date of these changes, I'll get back to you.

The RAC "deadline" was changed from 3 hours prior to flight to 4 hours prior to flight in at least early October 2006, if not a couple of weeks before that.

Again, thanks to Cleverocks for clarifying the RAC and 24 hr. check in. I have a rental vehicle that we will be driving back to MCO, therefore I will not avail myself of the RAC. I do wish to check in (Southwest) 24 hrs in advance, one way or another.Short of taking a laptop, again, does anyone know if the GF provides terminals for guest use?? Thanks:confused:

If the Grand Floridian's Convention Center is like the other resorts', they *should* have a business center with terminals that you can pay for their use. I have no idea what the price is, though.

Thanks Rob, I guess the easiest thing to do is just simply call the GF. Thanks to all. Now all I have to do is just watch the weather :eek::eek:

Ugh! People can be so annoying sometimes! Those are the same people that hold up the TSA lines becasue they don't have all of their electronics out of their bags, liquids in plastic bags, shoes off or metal out of their pockets/off their body. I see that group of two adults and four children ALL THE DARN TIME! I think they follow me to every airport, in fact.

One time at Old Key West they were unable to bring up my Delta reservation for some reason. She called some number to try and find out why but was always busy. I had to check-in at the airport.

Yes, you may run into a situation where they want to charge you for using the business center. The rate is something like $10 per hour and $2 per printed page. Both times I did that just to print boarding passes, they let me use the service for free. One time they charged me for the printed pages and one time they didn't (expensive boarding passes!). This was the years before the resorts had any kind of check-in service though. Best plan, go to your resort front desk and don't bother with the business centers.
