Ok so I am looking at airfair from both boston and manchester and I can save about $80 going out of boston which is odd. I would have to switch planes and get there a little later. however i live 10 minutes away from manchester and thinking about getting someone to get me to boston is already driving mr nuts so any new englanders can offer some advise would be great.

I was born and raised in MA, we fly alot to New England b/c all our family is still there. That said Logan seems to be cheaper for whatever reason lately for us as well. I'm from southern MA and usually fly into Providence but lately Logan has been cheaper than Providence. You kind of have to weigh it out, if you are close to MHT and can get a ride I say pay the extra money and fly out of MHT. You could fly out of BOS but then you would need to get someone to drive you to Logan, which Big Dig or not is still a pain to go to, or drive/get a ride and take the shuttle in from, I think it's Peabody or Woburn, but that will cost money of course and would probably equal out in the end monetarily. I've been to MHT a few times and it's so much easier than Logan, I would probably pay the extra $80 for MHT.

I live on Cape Cod and we have family in Vermont. Whenever we fly we meet up in Manchester and fly from there. Logan is such a hassle compared to MHT. Even parking is cheaper.

Good Luck !!!

I live in Worcester. In the past, I would almost always fly out of Manchester on Southwest. My friend lived in Nashua and it was about 15-20 minutes from the airport. I would park at his apartment and he'd drop me off.

But he has since moved into Manchester itself, and only has on-street parking. So for my next trip, because flights out of Logan were cheaper, I decided to try flying out of Boston. Other than a quick trip to my parents' for Christmas a few years ago on the now-defunct Independence Air, I couldn't even tell you the last time I flew through Logan.

The only problem with Logan is parking. Even if you take the Logan Express shuttle, you still pay to park at the shuttle's terminal. While cheaper than at the airport, it's still quite a bit. So, unless I find a friend that doesn't mind driving me to/from Logan, I'm planning on parking and taking the subway into the airport. Either at Alewife ont he Red Line, or at Woodland on the Green Line. Worked quite nicely when I flew that time on Independence. $4 a day to park, and then $1.70 each way subway fare. Can't really beat that.

(Plus, I've been wanting to try JetBlue for quite a while....)

No question, fly out of Manchester. Keep looking at the Southwest site because their fares change all the time. Plus by the time you deal with the various hassles of getting to and from Logan that 80 savings will pale in comparison to the aggravation factor of having to go to Logan. Manchester's a breeze to go through and the long term parking's only $11 per day and the highway is two minutes away.

I always fly out of Manchester, the amount of time it saves the morning we leave is great because instead of an hour and a half drive to Boston depending on traffic, we only have a 20 minute drive! between the gas money, the aggravation of traffic, and the time wasted I would easily be able to justify spending more to fly out from Manch!

That's the thing for me now... Before, when my friend lived in Nashua, it was 1 hour to get to his place, and then another 15 minutes or so for him to drive me to the airport.

Now, I would actually have to drive PAST the airport an additional 10-15 minutes to get to where he lives, and then backtrack. So I'm in the car for over 90 minutes just getting to the airport in a round-about way.
If I drove directly to Logan in Boston, I'd be there in 45 minutes. If I stop and take the T, it's about 90 minutes. Early in the morning on a Saturday, the T is no hassle at all, even while lugging a suitcase.

May not be cost effective but in the past, we hire a car or van to take us to the airport... It usually has been cheaper than paying for parking for the whole time we're away and the convenience is top notch. Picked up at my house, dropped off at the door at Logan... At trips end, the driver is right there waiting at baggage to take us home to our door step... Shop around, it may help in all off this...

Last year we rented a van who took 6 adults and 2 kids from my house. It was around $100 round trip. We live about 20 miles outside of Logan. It was a breeze. Not to mention we split the tab 3 ways so it was an even better deal...

Something to look into in deciding if Logan is worth trying to get in and out of...

HUGE blond moment! The last JetBlue flight was actually out of Burlington, VT. We never fly out from there so I completely blanked it was not Manchester. All the other flights were Manchester..... :brick:
