I have never seen the show on television and I do not brlieve that I will be seeing it live.

Never watched the show, and will never set foot inside this "attraction."

Should have created The Gong Show Experience instead.

This sums up my feelings perfectly.

I agree. However, since this is the biggest show on TV in America, we are in the minority. It will draw huge crowds and be a big success......Mores the pity!

Yes i know that the two are not connected, but while it may not be conciendental.... It still is horrible IMO to have this crap running while Fant is not. Thats all!

I saw the show when it was in previews a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say that I have no desire to ever do that again. It was like bad karaoke and I would rather stick a fork in my eye then go through that mess again!

American Idol annoys me, but it's like a train wreck - I can't stop watching it either. I'll check out the ride because it's new and I like to see everything once, but I doubt it'll be a must do each time.

I will admit it I do watch American Idol every now and then but I really do disagree with Disney in putting this attraction in. I think its a waste of an attraction and money. We have all of these brillant imagineers and this is all we can come up with?. I just dont understand it, oh well theres nothing we can do about it now.
I'm sorry...but I have to point out something I heard. It's been bothering me now for weeks as I listen to the complaints about AIE being built.

I believe I heard something on the WDW Today Show. (My memory could be fuzzy, so if someone else listened to this episode and remember too, that'd be great.) In it, Matt interviewed someone in conjunction with this who works for Disney and I believe I heard that Disney didn't really pay much for the refurb on this. That mostly, the people with American Idol payed for this attraction to go in. So, Disney got a brand new refurbed area, all on someone else's dime. That was a reasoning behind them creating the attraction as well. (You know...American Idol sponsors the attraction, kinda like Nestle sponsors The Land).

I am one who will not condemn this attraction before seeing it. Granted, I watch and like American Idol...but I think a lot of people are poo-pooing this idea without giving it a chance. It might not be a Disney thing...but it does have a lot to deal with showbiz. And from what I've heard, it is the most "studios" like thing going on at DHS right now. So, it puts the whole Studios aspect back into a place that wasn't too filled with it's own namesake.

And, if what I remember hearing was correct, so what if American Idol only lasts for a few more years...once AIE runs it's course, Disney will have a brand new, state of the art theater they can use at the Studios when all is said and done.

Actually, if they had to theme a new attraction on a reality show, I would have picked Dancing With the Stars. Take a fair slice of the guest population (an older person, a 10 or 12-year old, and a middle-aged mom or dad), put them in ridiculous costumes, and teach theme extremely basic dance moves with a "professional." Recreate the sets, have a funny host, and you have this century's version of "Superstar Television," a show that also involved and entertained people of all demographics and showcased some ABC/Disney properties.

Could've been a fun diversion, IMO :)

OMG! Isn't having it on T.V. enough. Ahhhhh:mad: I am not a Fan. What happens when the show is cancelled in years to come because it's old and overated like WWTBAM. They put so much money and effort in building these attractions and then their T.V. counterpart loses it's popularity and the park gets stuck with a wasted attraction. Seems like a big waste to me!

Disney took a space that hasn't been properly utilized in years and added a show that might actually be entertaining whether you like the TV show or not.

I'm not a big watcher, but a show that a audience can watch being filmed "live" is a perfect attraction for DHS, and is not meant to be a giant e-ticket attraction like ToT or RcRC. AND it doesn't have a character or PIXAR tie-in.

It seems to fit the mold for a good new mid-level attraction at a park that could really use a few.
