Anyone else noticed the eerie AI Disney characters theyve been using on the billboards and ads?

The AK Lion King One strikes out to me the most. Theres also for the new Little Mermaid show thats just a bit unsettling.

I personally don't see anything wrong with either image, but get that AI is creating a mixed bag of love/hate currently among the public.

There was a AI Coca Cola commercial run back during Christmastime with polar bears that, again, personally didn't see anything wrong with, but when you read the YouTube comments surrounding it...
Yikes!

Is it even AI? It just looks like CG renders to me. Only Simba looks all that weird to me and I think that's because they're using the FotLK puppet as reference. There was a similar image Disney put out a few years ago people though was AI but it just looked weird because they used the park costumes as reference.

Fair. I just personally think they both look a little uncanny. But maybe thats just me.

I don't think any of those are AI...regarding Tiana's, I think the "disappearing" hands imply they're inside the boat

Remember to "keep all hands and arms inside of the boat at all times".

There could also be some "AI" touch-ups happening too. What a lot of people are upset about are generative AI models that steal others work (by training the models on everything they get access to) without compensation, or just remove all human employees from the equation. That Coca-cola ad, while not only being extremely creepy, also meant they didn't really need any human involvement at all, past some guy typing a few prompts into a computer (Theoretically, I don't know how much actual effort went into it)

On that note, Disney and Universal are teaming up to sue Midjourney for profiting off of their IP by scraping all of their media for their own generative AI models.

Not a billboard but when you look closely the problems start to show-

- Tiana's hand vanishing.
- Tiana's kerchief being off center from her collar
- Tiana's eyes
- The fox's hand vanishing
The hand vanishing thing seems like a cheap cop out to "crop" her hands in the boat as to not expose the ai hands. It looks badly edited imho.

Disney doesnt need new art. They have plenty of stock images of these characters. That is why I am convinced, specifically the lion king one, that it is AI. No reason for Simba to look that uncanny if its literally just a picture of Simba. It does not reflect the puppet all that well.

You wanna see Disney reflect puppets? Look at that AWFUL animation they did for the new little mermaid show and then tell me the differences between those and the simba art. 😂

I wouldnt mind just flat out believing you if you have maybe the artists sources.

If yall dont believe Disney has more advanced AI tech than anyone else, which may be harder to spot, then I'd be concerned for yall getting scammed.

Well, for example the Oogie Boogie bash poster was confirmed by Scott Gustin to be not AI after speaking with the supposed artist. Whether you believe him or not that's up to you, but I haven't seen him post anything like this that wasn't verified by Disney themselves. The name of the artist wasn't given out either. I'm assuming they don't to deal with the backlash of all the people supposedly sticking up for artists by claiming their work is garbage and AI.

In my opinion there is nothing in any of the examples posted (except for the nightmare Mickey of course) that looks AI generated. These type of renders have been done for quite a while now. We have to be careful in not throwing the artists we claim to care about under the bus in the pursuit of finding AI.
