Ok so I know this sounds weird, but we are going to Disney in May. One of the days we are there will be an after hours event for the Magic Kindom. The misses, who's never been there, wants to know if we can go to like AK in the morning with a reg ticket. Relax for a bit, and then head to MK where we can enter at 7 with the special event ticket. I think that's possible, but I'm unsure. Would it be worth it to try that or stay all day at MK? Should we skip the after hours? We are going for 5 days with prob a 4 day non park hopper ticket. Also we have not purchased tickets for anything yet. That's coming soon. Also this will be our honeymoon.

That's a perfect plan. The After Hours events are fantastic, we have 2 planned for March. Don't be afraid to grab a dinner res at the Poly, Wilderness Lodge, or Grand Flo around 5:30 - 6 so its just a quick monorail ride to the MK at 7.

Yes you can do that.
I think you get more for you money with the Halloween and Christmas party but of course you're not going during that time lol.
Do the after hours and enjoy if that's what you're interested in doing.

Definitely fine to spend half the day at AK. Did Villains after hours in June. We had more than enough time to get things done with the time we had. Totally no need to spend the entire day at MK. Hope you have a blast when you go!

I've found Disney After Hours to be the best value of ANY ticket into the parks. Just the free popcorn, ice cream snacks, and bottled water and soda makes the event highly worth the cost. At MK, I actually rode Space Mountain 5 times in a row without one second of waiting. I was alone in the rocket 4 of those 5 trips. Every single attraction I went on was a walk on. 4 trips in a row on Big Thunder, 2 on Splash, 2 on Pirates, and on and on. Actually exhausted after the three hour event.

I like hearing things like this because I want her to remember this trip being her first. Alot of times u might not get to ride certain rides due to crowds. Hearing alot of ride time in an event like this

An example of the lines at Peter Pan and "it's a small world", during Magic Kingdom After Hours, back in November. I should mention the MK was packed that day and evening. This event went from 10pm until 1am. Only saw one stroller and a couple kids all night long. It was like "adults only" nights at the MK. The CM's were in an awesome mood too! I should add that this was about half way through the event.

The After Hours events are worth every penny if you plan to make the most of it. I did the MK After Hours with a friend in August 2018, and we had the time of our lives. We rode every single attraction and went through every meet and greet at least once, and the crowd level was incredibly low. There were times walking through Fantasyland that we did not see another person in sight, and it was really magical to leave at the park close and practically have Main Street to ourselves. There were people lying in the street taking photos in front of the castle. We also left with pockets and purses filled with sodas, and we took full advantage of a quick free Mickey Bar or other snack throughout the night. I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat. I'm not sure I would do it at one of the other parks though. I think it's truly best suited to MK. It's a perfect thing for a first timer, and you can truly knock out the entire park during the course of the event since they keep the number of tickets sold low--far lower than the parties.

Just found out the days we will be there is a villain's after hours. Does that really make a difference? We will miss the reg after hours.

We did the Villains last summer. Our big complaint was that park close (10 pm) and event start were the same time, so regular guests were allowed into ride queues as late as 9:59 pm and the major attractions (Big Thunder, Pirates, Space Mountain) had 30-40 minute waits until nearly 11 pm. We were not going to “waste time” in lines that long, so we had to find other things to do. The park was not as “empty” as we hoped, though the “free” treats were good. And it was fun to see Maleficent dragon (from the FoF parade) roaming the park. The Villains event had a few extra things regular after hours does not, which I’m sure accounted for more people and the higher cost to attend.

Only difference would be theme. (We did Villains June 25th, ‘19) If I remember correctly, Space Mountain and Pirates get a special layout. I believe I heard somewhere more tickets are sold, but it doesn’t make much of a difference. (Atleast it didn’t to me.) We had a small tight schedule near the end, we saved Seven dwarfs for last, and after that Space Mountain. We got lucky, we got into the Space Mountain queue at 12:58AM, and we rode at around 1:30am. I found Space Mountain had the longest wait that night, but this was only likely due to the fact everyone was trying to get in one last ride.

Depends what you want, the Halloween and Christmas party offers unique entertainment, the after hours events offer short lines and almost no wait for riding, the parties can't really be compared to After Hours as they are different styles of event.

Space and Pirates had consistent 30-40 minute waits our entire evening, likely due to the overlays. We waited 35 for Space (a big regret since we hated the ride in total darkness) and never did make it to Pirates.

I’ll chime in and add the Villians Party crowd is more similar to a moderate crowd at MVMCP or MNSSHP. The standard After Hours are UNBELIEVABLY slow, with barely any wait from the 2nd hour til close

Honestly, you might be better off just doing an After Hours for MK and an After Hours for DAK... depending on what you're in time for, or if you live locally. I'd say that an After Hours event make a lot more sense than ever buying a single day ticket for the park. The main reason to avoid them is if you're staying for a while, and buying a multiday ticket (as the AH is on top of the mulitday ticket and doesn't help you get to the cheap days).

I also agree, but I fear the word will get around and before we know it, these After Hours events will get as mobbed as the Christmas and halloween parties!!!!!!!
