Could they not simply build new kitchens? They do that all the time, with the Mexico cantina and Via Napoli, don't they?

Very easy to spend other people's money, isn't it. I am sure that they crunch the numbers, look at construction costs, benefits, etc. then make a decision. You may think that other eateries are full, and you would mostly be right, but they will not build a new kitchen unless they think that they are going to get NEW money, not just money moved from 1 CS to another.

Technically yes the restaurants can be serviced by one single kitchen as they are housed in one building. There would be no need to build another kitchen.

Now here is a very good question. Why is the water filled in in front of the castle? Google maps shows that the moat has been filled in and there are trucks and other vehicles there. It is a recent pic because FLE expansion is clearly visable in its very early stages?

I seem to remember some other mitigating circumstances that make simply putting in a new kitchen not so simple. There is also the possibility that despite what we think, they simply might not need it to function as a restaurant. MK already has two dining locations locations that can be opened up with the flick of a switch, yet the remain closed almost year round. One thing the parks do have a need for is multifunctional space for special events, private parties, etc. The veranda serves that purpose very well. It blends into the background quite well and most people do not even know it exists.

My understanding is that the kitchen facilities were walled off and removed once the Veranda closed. Perhaps the Liberty Tree Tavern uses its facilities now.

It was maintenance of the moat and I believe removal of the old Swan Boat track. You are seeing the concrete floor of the moat - it was not filled in. Work is complete and water now fills the moat. My guess the image on Google maps is from around June 2010.

Why not just get rid of Veranda altogether? It's no longer offering meals and everytime I pass by I just can't help but reminisce, just tear it down, put something new...Adventureland is already ruined for me anyway with all the ridiculous changes so just add some more changes then.

What other changes have been made to Adventureland over the years? I'm always really interested in past/present disney, but never have a good enough memory to spot changes.

While we're on the topic, what changes have been made to MK in general?

The swan boats did not run on a track. They were completely controlled by their operators.
