Advice re: Old Key West vs. Port Orleans

Hello All!
I am new to the boards here. My husband & I are planning our 1st (real) trip together (shooting for either Oct/Nov/Dec of '06) and I have some questions for anyone who can help.
We are thinking of staying at either Old Key West (we are not DVC members) or Port Orleans-French Quarter. Can anyone give me pros/cons?
Re: Old Key West. I've read in tip sites & books that the bus service here can run 12-6pm, buses 45 mins apart (?). I remember the buses being pretty frequent when I stayed here back in May of 2000 (with my aunt who is a DVC member). Has anything changed? We are not planning on renting a car.
Also re: Old Key West. Do the studios have patio/balconies? And how easy is it to actually get a room here if you are a non-member?
Please let me know any & all experiences you have had regarding the above. And thank you in advance for your help!

Now, that makes me sad. Who or what made you feel that way? Normally you cannot tell the renters from the members and I sure don't ask, cause it should not matter.

It certainly wasn't the Disney cast members that made us feel that way, let me make that clear! :) Unfortunately, it came up in casual conversation with some other guests (who quite obviously WERE DVC members). I agree, it shouldn't matter, and I'm sure we just ran into the "wrong" people!

Yep, I think you did run into the wrong people, unfortunately. Some people do resent renters, blaming them for every single bit of damage done to the units.
While I am sure that happens, I am also equally sure that many members do the same. Some people simply don't treat things well. What a lot of members don't realize is that if it were not for the renters, they would be paying a whole lot more in annual dues.
I am sorry you were treated badly and hope you will try OKW again, lots of nice people go there. :)
BTW, where in upstate are you? My daughter lives in upstate NY.

We're halfway between Saratoga Springs and Lake George, about an hour north of Albany. Where's your daughter?

P.S. You're right - there is absolutely NO WAY to baptise a cat... :lookaroun

Well, we're in South Glens Falls, and I always say "Halfway between Saratoga Springs and Lake George" because no one knows where SGF is, either...
