Advice on how to handle tour groups

I've gone in July before, but in all honesty, the only annoying thing is just the sheer number of them. (I mean, the less people at Disney, the better, right?) I remember one night before Fantasmic, the Brazilians got into a chanting war with the Argentinians. But guess what, when the show started everybody was quiet. I haven't had anybody try to cut in front of me or if they did, I wasn't aware of it, and if I did see it, I would just say, "Oh, no you're not." I'm going in July this summer. I wasn't crazy about that, but it's when all of our schedules permitted. In the summer I prefer to go in June. So, we'll see how it goes. My one thought about them is, how are all of them going to coordinate their fast passes with the new system? That should be interesting.

I wish you all the luck in the world with that lol! Been there way too many times when they were(not by choice). Trying to say "oh no you won't" doesn't work with them because they pull out the "Don't speak English" card (which they do, they just think we're all stupid). They learned quickly they weren't able to do this with me when I started yelling at them in Portuguese. They backed off very quickly and gave up on trying to jump line in front of DBF and I lol!

We tend to avoid them like the plague! However, we have been unfortunate enough to have them line cut. The first time it happened, we stood there, baffled at what was happening, as if someone really had the audacity to be that rude!! The 2nd time that happened, my dad, who's 6'3 just absolutely refused to let anyone in front. A few tried to pull the "but our friends are up there" excuse, to which he answered, "well, they either should have waited for you or they can come back, but 30 of you are NOT getting in front of all these people!' I think at that point, my mother, may have gotten the attention of a CM. We've adopted this policy for ANY line-cutting, regardless of who they are :D

Yes, I have almost always gone in Spring or very late summer. My daughter is now in college my husband works in another country. It's getting harder to find time to go together with school and work. Middle of July is our only time we have. Majority of the people say its not that bad so I'm going to believe them. My only damper would be if they interrupted shows. I have year that back in 2013 there was a parade cancelled because of raucous behavior. I really truly hope that was incorrect or atleast an isolated incident. Still really excited to go and maybe we'll see you there!

Haha. Yeah i know a couple of words. My aunt worked in Brazil and my cousin is half Brazilian so I most definitely do not hate South Americans. They're family! I do know "excuse me" and "rude". Will that be enough or will I need my aunt to teach me a few phrases?

Something amazing happened once to our family. We were waiting on main street for the 3pm parade, when a group surrounded us. I understand they want to be together, but they kept coming like bees. Finally, I asked them to give us some space, and they did! We all shuffled around a bit, they did not bother us at all.

I try to just avoid them completely, but it isn't always easy. I've even gotten out of line to avoid a particularly obnoxious group I just couldn't stand.

So many park guests are annoying but the tour groups take annoying to another level. The sheer number of sweaty, overweight loud mouths chanting in a foreign language makes it much more difficult to avoid.

I just try no to visit WDW during their peak times. They are unbearable, classless people and it's not fair we have to be subjected to their obnoxious behavior. Disney should do more to manage them, although their position is difficult as well.

My response to "Don't Speak English..." is a quiet "you just dropped a hundred dollar bill.." while looking pointedly over their shoulder. If they understand that much English...then they understand "NO !"

I agree and while I understand what you are saying. Just saying no (whether they understand it or not) doesn't get the same reaction and the real stoppage out of them like my technique did.

Don't worry about it ahead of time - no reason to take the joy out of your WDW planning!

If we see a big, loud-looking tour group coming our way (the matching T-shirts and shrill leader with a flag are a pretty easy-to-spot giveaway), we just head in another direction! Unless we're approaching an attraction near the end of a FP+ window and have no other choice, there's always somewhere else we can go, or an attraction we can visit out of order, out of the way of the tour group. If worse comes to worst and we're stuck with them, we just do our best to relax and go with the flow. We've never had an issue with them chanting in front of us on attractions, but if I really thought that would be an issue, I wouldn't be shy about asking a CM to let another 100 people ahead of me, in order to put some space between me and the tour group.

Don't let it ruin your WDW planning! You'll have a wondeful time. However, I've had some bad experiences with these tour groups and the best thing I can tell you is to do your best to ignore them.

Last year, my family and I redeemed our Fastpasses for Big Thunder and a South American tour group was behind us in line. While we were walking to the loading platform, the group decided it would be best to run around us, push, shove, etc. When we made it to the loading platform, we told a CM. They immediately escorted us in front of the entire group and allowed us to board first. While on the ride, they just chanted nonstop. Can't win them all, I guess. We definitely learned our lesson: If you see a tour group at an attraction that you're about to ride, see if you can avoid it for now and come back later.

I also got trampled by another South American tour group in the Fastpass line for RnRC. Thankfully, I only came out with minor injuries. Just avoid them if you can. If anything does happen, just report it to guest relations (or a CM) and they'll see what they can do.
