Adventureland Refurb: Pirate's Plaza

Okay, we've heard this idea before: box in Carribean plaza, making an Air Conditioned massive indoor 'nighttime' plaza.

That said, what would be in there?

I propose a highly intertwined 'Pirate Scene'. Basically, you have 3 or 4 attractions that cross paths, not only with each other, but with the walking paths of the plaza!!

On one end of this plaza you have a bayou theme, and a carribean Spanish fort theme on the other. In between is a town.

Each 'side' has a plaza associated with it, with a bridge that links the two plazas. On one side of the bridge is a 'bayou', and on the other is 'the sea' (with ships in the distance). So four corners: Louisiana/French theme, bayou, carribean/Spanish, and the sea.

There are two E-tickets: a voodoo/Davy Jones 'haunted seaside' sort of thing, and the other a less supernatural pirate chase.

The pirate chase will be a lot like the old PotC ride (the original stays in DL, but is discarded for FL). This time, instead of a slow ride through static scenes (woman chasing pirate in circles?), there is an effect of 'pursuing' some pirates (who took the governor's daughter and some artifact, with different characters more devoted to getting back the one or the other) through a Carribean town. Each time a boat enters an area, it is 'reset' quickly and in sync enough to give the illusion that the pirates being chased 'just got there'. So you'll see the pirates run or sail around the corner, with things catching flame or dropping and breaking afresh. You'll encounter characters who are pursuing with you at the same time 'good guys' who later are at odds, and some of the pirates don't seem as bad. A really engrossing and dynamic story with the right ride mechanics to make it totally exciting.

The boat itself will have the ability to go faster or slower. And the areas it goes through will sometimes cross with the other attractions.

--Now onto the bayou ride. It starts out with voodoo paraphenalia and a shack a la Tia Dalma in a swamp. Maybe it can start out blue bayou style with a nice restaurant, and work its way to a darker, creepier swamp. The story will parallel that of the pirate chase. Some pirates took something, and so you need to find another for said voodoo priestess. Something like that. You go from the swamp, under the town bridge, and down a sort of spiral ramp that is dark and near the 'sea' illusion to give the effect of entering a magical 'davy jones' locker'. Here there are skeleton pirate slaves, and other creeptastic things. As such, instead of a boat, I'd like to see a roller coaster that looks like a boat (like the Aerosmith 'stretch limo'). The ride will take you through creepy slow areas but also involve a 'typhoon' and such.

Restaurants and shops will cross over and show visability with the different portions of the rides. It would also be cool to have a C-ticket somewhere too. Of course, live cast member pirate scenes in the square for good measure.

In the end, visitors will walk around and ask themselves if they can sort out how it all connects, and it won't be easy. It will give the impression of a very alive pirate world.

Take that WWOHP!!!
