Advantage Rent A Car

Anyone ever rent a car from Advantage Rent a Car? Their prices seem to be the cheapest, but have never heard of them before. Don't want to end up with a bunch of hidden fees!

We usually use Dollar rental car and have had no problems with hidden fees etc. I have never used Advantage as I have found Dollar to always be the cheapest. Dollar is on site at the Orlando airport too.

We usually rent from Dollar but found that Advantage was cheaper by about $75-100. We're renting for 3 weeks, so it gets quite pricey! :brick:

I found this at the bottom of the page after I made my reservation.

"For additional location and vehicle choices from Hertz, try Hertz.com"

Makes me think that it's Hertz, but where maybe they send the older cars with more miles on them. Charge less, change the name to Advantage and still get money for cars.

We didn't have to put a credit card down to reserve it, so we think we're going to check it out and if they want to pile on a bunch of fees, we can just walk away.

Did you use any type of coupon code? Through Dollar I am using BOD in the coupon field(I found it online somewhere). I didn't book yet though- we are going 12/4-12/12. I was still looking around the find the cheapest one.

I didn't use a coupon code when I was looking at Dollar. I tried it though using the BOD code and it was $601 for when we needed the car (9/20-10/9). Without using the code and just their "city specials" it was $547. Advantage for my dates was $474.

I checked your dates at with your code it was $270. With the "city specials" it was $399. I checked Advantage for your dates at it was $170 using the code ADVAN (saves 5%).

All cars quotes are for a midsized car and all taxes included. Since it's so much cheaper I think we're going to try it. On my last post it says they have something about Hertz on there. Makes me think like Advantage is like the generic brand for Hertz.

LovingDisney, I just got a reply back from Advantage. I asked them if they have a shuttle bus and they do. They are located about 5 miles from the airport, but have a courtesy bus that will transport you to and from the airport.

Thanks so much for looking for me. It may be cheaper than the others because they are not located onsite at the airport. They do have shuttle busses running- we did rent one time off site. It just takes a little more time to get to your car. Hope you have a great time.

You're welcome! We've rented offsite before and although it's a pain, we're now just trying to save as much money as we possibly can. Not sure how reliable their transportation is to get back to the airport. We're planning on staying close to the airport before we fly home. We may just return the car the night before and have our hotel drop us off at the airport.

I seem to remember reading some negative experiences...

Edit - Since that post, they were acquired by Hertz around March 2009. It seems Hertz will use the Advantage brand to rent out older former Hertz cars at a value price point. Most negative posts are probably from the pre-Hertz era.

Haven't used Advantage... so can't give you feedback on that.

But, what I can say is to definitely check out www.mousesavers.com. They have a ton of different discount codes for each of the major companies at the airport.

The great thing about car reservations is that you can book something without paying or even a credit card guarantee. Then keep checking prices up until you actually go ahead and rent a car when you get there. Keep looking around until the day you leave, you may find a better deal or a last minute bargain too... sometimes without any coupon codes just by renting it direct on the company's website.

It takes a little time to keep checking the different websites and plugging in different coupon/corporate codes... but by doing that, we managed to get a mid size car for 8 days last September from National (they are right in the airport), for just over $120 total, including all taxes and fees. We found a pretty good deal around the $225 dollar mark when we started looking... so we saved a bundle just by checking and rechecking.

Have a great trip!
