Have any of you gone to Disney without the kids?

I may be planning a vacation with just my husband and I, as a second honeymoon! I can't fathom Disney without the kids, but I also can't think of any place I'd rather go (Im not really a Vegas girl...not a drinker, smoker, or gambler...lol).

I can't picture Disney without the stroller, bags, and tons of things you need out there. Just my husband, me and a camera......wow! Sounds amazing as I type it out! LOL ;)

Yup, its great! Its different of course, but still fun. Since Disney World is a place for ALL ages, you'll be able to have tons of fun without the kids. Enjoy the time together and then come back again with the kids.

I think I am more excited about this trip than our others to be honest. We were in Downtown Disney last week and had the kids with us. Lost a couple of them in World of Disney for a moment and tried to keep all 5 of them together while walking around there. Then they were hungry and thirsty. You know kids have to have immediate food or drink when this happens. It cant wait. I looked at my wife and said "Our trip in Sept is going to be so much easier than this."

Make sure to update how it went! Im so excited to hear! I was just thinking that too! They need to go to the bathroom, eat a snack/meal or are bored waiting in line.....I can't imagine not having to deal with that and just be able to run around like kids ourselves.

My husband got an evening to ourselves in Magic Kingdom one day when we went to the fireworks, my mother in law stayed with them. We went on Splash Mountain 4 times and the Haunted Mansion twice. My 6 year old was to scared for the Haunted Mansion.....haha No worries about that stuff!!

I have been there three times with no kids and it was wonderful, but this was also before I had kids. Now that I have kids and we go each year, I could never go without them at their ages. They love it as much as my husband and I do, and I could never tell them Daddy and I are going to Disney and you have to stay home, it would break their hearts. I would also be thinking of them the entire time, I would never be able to enjoy myself. I hope once they are older my husband and I will be able to go without the kids and enjoy just the two of us, but that is a long way off.
I hope you have an awesome time. I really wish I could just take off with my husband and enjoy the magic with him.

You can actually have a lot of fun in Vegas without doing any of those things... they have really good restaurants, shows (no, not the the stripper kind), and their resorts are great. We stayed at Mandalay Bay last year and their pool was wonderful to be at. We also visited the Hoover Dam while out there, which was very cool. The only gambling we did was play the slot machines once just for fun. Sorry, just sayin', you can have fun even without doing what Vegas is known for.

But anywho, Disney is very fun without kids (and honestly much less stressful ;) ). I think if you do go, you can have a lot of fun and it's nice you get to be on your own timetable instead of a little kid's timetable. If you are going, I'd encourage you to try some new things at Disney that you haven't done before. :)

I have also arranged a carriage ride for my wife and I am PORS. Cant do that with kids. This is also our anniversary trip so kids really dont fit in with that kind of a trip. Not to mention we scored Free Dining for our visit too.

We go to Disney once every year without the kids, of which we have four. It's fun with them, but it's also exhausting and the whining because its hot. Just us two adults is so much more relaxing. Get to eat at our kind of places, slowly walk and take in everything. EPCOT is especially better without the kids, as we like to drink around the world and sample food. Can't wait to get back. I definitely recomend going with out the kids.

Oh I know! We went back in 2009 and did a lot of touristy stuff, mostly exploring the Strip! We had a TON of fun and want to go back eventually. I want to go when the kids are older and can enjoy the M&M store/Coca Cola store, the Fountains, Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam and other shows. But definitely something once the kids are older and can enjoy it more, instead of doing those things by ourselves again, which we've already done : )

OOOOOOO! We loved the World Showcase and only got to see China, Germany and Mexico before the kids were to wore out from walking and we had reservations at Chef Mickeys! It would def be nice to just wander around WSC and sample all the foods they have around there. Just getting 1 item and being able to split it will be much easier then 2 meals and having to share with the kiddos too (we have 3 boys...lol)

I don't think we'll be able to tell them where we're going....LOL Just have to make sure to bring them home some REALLY awesome stuff and plan a fun day the day we get back.....haha.

I will really have a hard time leaving Dylan (my youngest)...he'll only be 2 1/2 when we go. Hes about to turn 2 now. He's never spent more then an hour from me. He's my little monkey....Its hard for me to leave him even just to go to dinner or a movie. It will be really hard to go for 3-4 days!

Think about a vacation where everything is done on YOUR time, not done around naps, lunches, scary rides or bed times. If you want to sit at the pub or the tequila bar at EPCOT for 2 hours, you do it. If you want to stay out late at DTD or a late dinner, no problem. You can do as much or as little as you want, when you want. Be careful....you may just get used to this! ;)

Last time we went without the kids was in the pre-kid era. We've talked about it, but I don't know if I could do more than hiring a babysitter or putting them in something like Sandcastle Club for the evening. I think we have to at some point b/c we each have a list of things we'd like to do w/o the kids...between the tours, certain dining experiences, and revisiting our early days of drinking around the world :D- not to mention possibly doing an Illuminations cruise w/just us...I think it seems logical to try it at some point. My parents live in FL, so I've thought about dropping the kids off with them for a few days so we can have some grown up time in the parks ... then have everyone join us several days later. DH also has talked about a Disney cruise so we have the girls there, but have a nice safe fun onboard option for them so we can also get some time to ourselves.

It's tough though b/c I hate leaving them. We try and do a few days in New Orleans, Vegas, Mexico, etc. each year w/o the kids and I still have to Skype with them each day :)

I am SO looking forward to my first child-free WDW trip in four or five years!! Right now I have too much guilt to go and leave my boys at home because they love it there so much. My boys will be in high school in a few years and I am hoping (not really "hoping", but if it happens, oh well!) that they begin to think WDW is uncool and don't want to go with us.

My husband and I do date nights every two or three weeks and my mom keeps the boys overnight, but we seldom do any trips without them...in fact, the last trip without them was to the Dominican Republic about 10 years ago....I am thinking we are due a trip!

Been there several times as an adult before kids. It is a different but great experience. Taking your time eating meals, no lines to meet characters, Jellyrolls!!! There are a lot of great things to do for just adults. Enjoy your trip. I am jealous.

You have also made me want to go back to Vegas again too. I enjoy everything you listed but the smoking and I would add eating at great restaurants to the list too. The era of Vegas being only buffets and $0.99 shrimp cocktail is over (although you can still find those things too). The Beatles Cirque show at the Mirage blows away the one at DTD too in my opinion.
