Good Morning,Question asked to me recently by a couple who are married but have no children. Does WDW have a hotel that caters more for adults rather than children?I think I know where there coming from. They fancy a WDW vacation with no screaming kids running around[ sad eh ] anyway I was thinking possibly GF. or Swan/Dolphin ?never been to these resorts so iam only guessing.Any thoughts so I can get back to them.cheers.:wave:p.S. Wait till they get to the parks,eh,tee hee:ROFLOL:

Port Orleans Riverside is great. While there are still kids it is peaceful and large enough you can stoll away from everyone and have lots of quiet time. The small pools when we were there(6/2011) were mainly empty. It is a real adult atmosphere instead of kid themed and yehaa bob who plays piano in the resort bar is a fun filled evening. also there are carriage rides at night that are real romantic.

It doesn't matter where you stay kids will be all over the place. We stay at the Grand Floridian 4 or 5 times a year and the place has just as many kids as the other resorts. During meals times the lobby is full of kids because of the character meals at 1900 Park Fare.

PO Riverside is great for adult couples w/out kids.. my wife and I spent our honeymoon there last summer and it was terrific.. there are still families and kdis and such but definitely different than the all star resorts and such..

My wife and I have stayed at POFQ 3 times. Our engagement trip, Honeymoon, and 2 yr anniversary trip. I am not going to say there were no kids but they created no distraction and we never really noticed any that seemed out of control.

My experience

My husband and I went for our honeymoon and kids are not our thing and never will be but we love disney. We found that when you go rather then where you stay is what made the big difference. We went in september and the parks were not crowded at all. We stayed at AKL and did not have a single instance where I had the feeling of wanting the kill a small demon which is saying alot for my patience level. :) Have they thought about a Disney cruise. There are alot of adult only area on board and really the only time you can be disturbed by the plague is the sundeck and food court.

Best advice to avoid kids while at Disney is to go when school is in session -- that'll cut down the number of kids all over, but, of course, not eliminate them.

As for resort, I'd go with Coronado Springs if they want a Disney-run resort, and the Swan or Dolphin if they just want to on-WDW location.

Coronado is designed for conventions. It's grounds are serene and peaceful, and the only part of it really designed to attract kids is the main pool area, which is set off by trees and buildings so that you don't even notice it much unless you are there. The quick-service food area is different and doesn't appeal to kids much. There is a night club there that doesn't allow kids in. And the design of the hotel, particularly the cabanas, makes it much easier to avoid large throngs of people.

The Swan and Dolphin attract a lower quotient of families because they aren't Disney-run, and because they really do cater to business conference and conventions. I stayed at the Swan for the first time last fall, and was surprised at how being a guest there felt like being a guest at a Marriott or Westin hotel located in any big city in the world. Didn't feel like Disney at all. If you're trying to avoid kids, that's good, and the location (walk to Epcot and Boardwalk, boat to DHS) is great, but it has a very different feel.

While some have said GF, I would not recommend it. I have found GF to be full of kids.

I would assume anything other than the VALUES will have the least amount of kids.

More kids - more money - need a cheaper place. There are more kids at the Values than anywhere else.

I think GF may be the best for adults. Of course I won't know for sure because I won't be staying there until May. It doesn't have as much Disney theming as the other resorts but it is located on the monorail and parents like to be on the monorail and be in close proximity to Magic Kingdom. I agree with everyone else that there's no safe place away from kids at Disney.

+1 Value resorts are the essential Disney trip for families. Plenty of activities and low accommodation prices. I stayed @ CBR last year and even that was pretty mild from kids. It was very relaxing.

Someone said go when school is in session - tried that - found the toddler crowd (and the annoying mommies and daddies that came with that set) to be worse than the pre-teens and teens you see during the summer months.

Not to mention strollers running into you and Fantasy Land being mobbed

In my capacity as a non-breeder I do understand the desire to make your resort choice to be a more adult only one. I don't expect to go to Disney World and not see or be near children but it's also nice to be able to have a swim or lounge by the pool without being splashed or having excessive "kid noise" around.

Of course stay away from Values and if their budget allows for a deluxe I would recommend the Epcot resorts over the monorail ones. That is just a personal observation from staying at both. My theory is that families with smaller children tend to want to be closer to the resort they will spend most of their time at - MK of course, instead of Epcot for the little ones

I have also found that CBR and POR have less little kids than other moderate resorts - I imagine if you are a family with small children and doing a moderate than you would rather be at the PO resort with the Mardi Gras pool and less walking - POFQ

My trip next month is adults only - a girls trip with my 2 best friends who decided it was high time they experience Disney World - in their words, they wanted to go before they have kids so they can enjoy it  and while we are doing some "kid" things like Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace we also plan to do the very late night EMH as well so there should be some times when we are not surrounded by little ankle biters.

Honestly, speaking as someone who never plans on having children, I rarely have bad child experiences at Disney. I think because I'm so distracted by all the fun I'm having and also it's usually the adults that are being a pain in the :zipit:

We find the "Best" resort, with the least amount of children is Old Key West. It is the original Disney Vacation Club resort, and the rooms are fantastic. Unlike most of the other resorts, the rooms are situated in buildings like condos. This prevents people from passing in front of your door at all hours, or hearing screams of people moving through the hallways. There are no shared spaces directly in front of your room. The layout also is great when it comes to the balconies. All of the rooms are entered from the parking lot side and face an interior area that isn't accessible to anyone other than the occassional golfer. In other words, when you are out on your deck/patio you don't hear or have people running around, nor do you look directly at anyone else's deck/patio. There are a number of "quiet" pools around the resort, which have limited attractions for kids, most people with kids choose to go to the main pool, which has a slide and other things geared for kids. The resort has a theme, "Key West", but it isn't "Disney-fied" like others on property.

You won't find a resort that is 100% child-free, but OKW is a nice place to come back to and relax around, it feels like the most secluded of the resorts to us.

You might be able to find some restaurants where the interaction with kids is minimal like the California Grill, or activities like House of Blues or Cirque Du Solei, but for the most part, adult only hotels, Disney is not the place to go.

My OH and I stay at the GF not because it seems to have a reasonably low percentage of children but it definitely is a plus!

Why would you want to take children to WDW anyway, if I ever decided to have children my WDW trips would be ruined! ;)

Swan/Dolphin is the best. We stayed here when we got engaged and it was the BEST!!!! I have stayed at almost every Disney resort and it is the most adult friendly. The GF is good also but with all the construction goin on there I would avoid it. Have fun!!!

Within the value set, it seems to me that All-Star Music has the least kids, as many will prefer Pop, Movies, and Sports before choosing Music.

I take trips with my granddaughter but also about twice a year do an all adult trip, one with my sister, and one with either my husband or my grown daughter. You'll never totally avoid kids at a disney resort but your best bet is to stay away from the value resorts. You have a lot of young families and every tour group books at these. Also regardless of where you book try not to book a room by the pool. Kids love pools and if you don't want to hear them don't book where they hang out. The deluxe resorts seem to be more adult friendly, particularly gf, bwi, and yacht. don't forget the resorts like old key west. for the moderate resorts (I've stayed at them all), i'd say the most adult friendly is pofq. basically the more subtle/more adult the disney theme the more adult friendly they seem to be. We also avoid dinners at places like chef mickey's. We tend to stick to signature dinners and sometimes will even grab a bite at a lounge on property. i find it very doable going as an all adult group...nothing like being able to walk around with nothing but your id, a little cash, sunglasses and your room key :sohappy:
