Adults Doing Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

DD4 did it this past trip and she loved it, but part of me wants to try it myself. I know adults can do it...hey it says 3 and up and I'm certainly over 3  Plus I think it might be fun to do a mommy/daughter BBB session...and I love the idea of going around w/glittery hair and a tiara all day. :lookaroun:ROFLOL:

My question...have any of the adults on here done it? And if so, how did the whole "princessification" process feel as an adult?

I haven't done the BBB yet but our last trip all of the men in our group did the Pirate league with my 6 year old nephew, our group was getting looks all day, but it was so much fun. My nephew still talks about the day when his family were all pirates. I say do it :sohappy:, it will be a great memory for your DD.

That's good to know b/c our younger daughter loves to play pirate...Arg (or however you spell it) is one of her fave words. I could probably talk DH into doing a pirate transformation with her once she's old enough.

I did this with my daughter once. We only went for the hairstyle where they put in up in a bun with a princess crown. We then had pictures taken together. It was quite fun and would do it again. My daughter wore a dress (not a costume) and I wore a nice shirt. The CM at BBB didn't seem too surprised an adult was having it done.

Good to know it seemed commonplace to the CM and that it was fun for you. We bought dresses last time and while the girls know nothing of this trip, I've warned them that I'm not buying any more costumes at WDW.

I don't see why someone would hesitate if they want to do it. Anyone who gives eyerolls or makes comments needs to realize where they are and that an adult done up like a princess is not the line you draw in the sand, especially considering there are folks wandering around with personalized mouse ears, huge character gloves, pirate dreadlocks and clothing adorned with the characters. What's next? People worried about wearing Santa Hats during the holidays or costumes on Halloween?

It's the happiest place on Earth and most of us love it because we feel seven again, why would this hinder that? Go for it and definitely post pics.

i think people who can't get into the whole pixie dust-whimsical feel of a disney vacation are the ones who really stick out and need to head over to universal studios and leave the magic to the rest of us ...but then again i wear a tiara and it's a tradition that we all wear matching shirts lol.

First off- I love the whole "I wear a tiara." A group of us at work feel that we need tiara day once a month. :king: I'm also thinking about stealing the t-shirt idea for this trip.

Secondly- I'm fine with this experience not being one all adults would choose to do, but when it comes to thinking/acting negatively towards adults who do choose to partake in such things... I'm an adult and can handle it - HOWEVER - it bugs me on the "Disney is not just for kids" perspective/mentality. I mean- it's not like I'm suggesting doing BBB in anticipation of a dinner ADR at Victoria & Albert's.

Either way- I'm going to call tomorrow to book...didn't want little ears that refused to nap all weekend overhearing me! :hammer:

Its all about the memories and some thing like that will last forever

Very true! And since DD4 declared she does not want me making her car this year (may be a good thing since I was going to sculpt the Barbie DreamVette), this may wind up being one of the strongest memories from the bday.

OK, OK... I KNOW I'm going to get into trouble. But for DAYS, everytime I read this thread, the only thing I can think of?

"Bibbidi Bobbidi MuMu...."

Sorry - couldn't help myself :).

It may just be that I haven't fully adjusted to daylight savings time :snore:, but this one went over my head. :veryconfu Although, the MuMu has also reminded me that my mom would likely go the polar opposite if I tell her and she buys me a costume. Yikes! I think I'll stick to special bday shirts!

That's good to know! I've found a few pics of adults, and even some grown men, who have done it and everyone seems to be having a great time with it.

Well, I made the appointments.:D I think I'm going to let DD2 help pick my makeup colors so she's involved in the process. Now i have until August to decide on hair!

Ok, i'm planning to do this with my mum as a bonding experience, and the fact that i'm 21 and still want to be a princess, do you think it's appropriate for 2 adults to this this with no children present? My 14 year old sister has absolutely no interest in this whatsoever.

When I was in there with my 17 and 10 year old daughters there was a group of women there, none of which were a day under 60, and I saw nothing inappropriate about it at all.

they obviously won't put you in costume but as for the rest of it go for it...you'll have a great time and you'll never see any of the people there again. my sister and i are in our 40s and never do wdw without a tiara but we do do wdw without our kids lol.

I say go for it. I have already run through all of the scenarios that I can think I will be dragged through as my DD grows up. The tea parties, makeup, hair-dos, hair-don'ts, face painting, and anything else crazy that she can come up with. My feeling is if it makes her happy, I am going to do it. I am too old to be embarrassed by anything. I view it as the commercials on TV where the dad has to do silly things for his daughter and all the guys laugh. I think that makes me more of a man though. She is my life and that is that.

Do what you want that makes you and your daughters happy. Have fun. It is your vacation.

I´m sure your daughter will love the experience of doing it with you, and she´ll think you look gorgeous. That´s the most important thing, so go for it. Some people might give you weird looks, but your little princess will remember that forever!

Some of the sights I've seen at Disney make you wonder. It is like you want to say it isn't Halloween or Mardi Gras so why are adults dressing in costumes. It is one thing to wear the ears and hats and t shirts, but costumes make people do a double take.

I think it's a GREAT idea!!! Up until the other week I was booked to do BBB in DTD w/my 4 yr old (turning 5 this trip). I canceled for 2 reasons. 1) I still feel horrible that DD2 wouldn't be able to participate. All my friends said to wait until our next trip so the three of us could do this and have nobody left out. 2) We are planning on swimming the day of our appointment. I didn't want us to go through princessification just to have it all wash away in the pool.

In fact, when I booked the woman who helped me told me that she and her daughter did it with their grandbaby a while back and that it was a blast having 3 generations getting "princessified." :D

I look at it this way- you're at Disney -which seems like the PERFECT place to do something like this at any age.
While it depends on the person? I had in mind the standard Costume Sizes for the Standard American Adult :).....
