Adult Costumes Question

My friend wants to go to Disney World and has recently become obsessed with the idea of going in costume dressed as one of her favorite Disney Princesses. If I rememer correctly, this is against the rules, but I can't find any information online that says it is. I was wondering if anyone knew of an official site that said this so that I can show her because she doesn't want to believe me. Thank you

I don't recall seeing anything like that. I remember it saying nothing that will harm you or anyone around you. I went one year and there were 3 ladies dressed like the fairies from Sleeping Beauty and they looked great! Call Disney if you don't get an answer.

I do believe that is the regular dress code. Not the one for the Halloween party. I am sure someone out there has it.

This is far from official, but I think during the month of October (mainly during the M'sNSSHP), they don't mind, and in a lot of cases, encourage. From what my understanding is, people sometimes mistake adults as actual characters and Disney is against this (which I totally understand.) Best to ask though, better safe than sorry.

Curious here. Does she want to dress to go the park during normal day time operating hours or for MNSSHP? :veryconfu

As a former Guest Relations cast member, I remember hearing about adults being turned away for costumes. I remember a trio of Japanese girls who had to get shirts prior to entering the park.

I have seen some really scary(in more ways than one) adult cosplay(costume play). I would stick to regular clothes and let the kids wear the costumes.

During normal park hours in November, so not around Halloween at all.
I'm not sure how old your friend is but I can tell you that I have never seen an adult dressed up as a character who was not on the Disney payroll aside from at Halloween. I do find it a bit peculiar that an adult would want to dress up to go the MK. Not passing judgement but unless she's planning on taking some of that costume off while singing "Happy Birthday" to a middle aged guy wearing his favorite sports team on his t-shirt surrounded by his closest friends, I'm thinking she needs to re-evalute her obsession... :lookaroun

anywho, from what I know about Disney they will ask her to change her apparel if she comes dressed in costume outside of Halloween time.

my wife and i got married in june and we hopped over to main street as we thought at the last min wow wodn't it be great in our wedding outfits to get a photo of the castle behind us on our wedding day.
everyone on the monorail loved us but once we got to the gates all hell broke lose. we had security all over us like a rash and a ty manager saying you can not come in even just for 1 photo (that was all wewanted and we were happy to even let disney take the picture) no,no,no and no appoligy all company policy. it did ruin our day abit but all the guests were so nice they took out photos in front of the train station so we still had our photos what ever disney said.

and the final note disney says kids might think that because you are in a wedding dress they kids could think you were a character

what the haunted wedding lady please

if disney read this get a life
and to all the americans who made are day thank you from our deepest harts we are glad there are some intelligent sols out there.

That's horrible that they wouldn't let you inside the parks for your picture. True there are rules but every rule should have an exception and for them to treat you and your wife like that on one of the most special days in your life is disappointing.

Also disappointing, to me at least, is the implication that there is something strange or wrong about an adult wanting to dress up in a costume in the parks. Disney World is a place of childish innocence. A place where we can go and be timeless. Ageless. To be a kid again. I would expect people that love Disney to understand and appreciate this. She just wants to have a little fun. To have a cute photo of herself in front of the castle or perhaps next to the Partners statue dressed as her favorite Princess. I don't think that qualifies her as being crazy.

If your insinuating that my post may have implied that there is something wrong about an adult dressing up in the parks, I reassure you nothing is further from the truth. But let me add, I have no idea how old your friend is and if she's an 18 year old who wants to wear ears and Minnie hands and the such, that's a great way to express innocence and agelessness. But if we're talking a 30 something who aspires to prance the park as Tink, that there is definately strange. Sorry to disappoint you. Not my intention. I know what Disney is about and if I didn't love Disney, I wouldn't go or spend hours a day on this site. But I have to tell you, as someone who loves Disney, I don't understand this. I have never, in my adult years, wanted to go to the parks in costume, aside from Halloween. Sorry, that's just me..
I can totally see Disney's stance on this. With all the Tigger abuse accusations, imagine if just anybody could cruise the parks in costume? Any allegations would be focused squarly on Disney and frankly, I don't blame them at all for not allowing it... :D
