Well, my first time booking reservations at 6am on my 180th day was a success (including a bit of reshuffling at 8am when I read on here that you could/should book the QS for Be Our Guest). Thank you to everyone here - I would never have even thought to book this far in advance!

I snagged a 3:45 reservation for 'Ohana on the day I'm planning on going to MVMCP, which should work well, but the only reason 'Ohana was on my list is because people rave about it and I knew if I didn't book it now, I'd lose my chance. I ate at Kona last time I was there and wasn't really impressed. If I didn't go there, I'd probably pick the new Jungle Canteen at MK, the Yak & Yeti, or one of the Epcot restaurants (leaning towards San Angel Inn). For those who have eaten at 'Ohana, is it worth the hype?

Here's my list:
Day 1: Raglan Road for dinner
Day 2: Marrakesh for lunch (place holder for Marrakesh Candlelight Procession lunch)
Day 3: 'Ohana for early dinner
Day 4: Sanaa for lunch
Day 5: Be our Guest for QS lunch, Boma for dinner
Day 6: Mama Melrose for lunch (place holder for Mama Melrose Fantasmic lunch)
Day 7: Morimoto Asia for lunch

Besides Be Our Guest, the other QS I have on my list is Columbia Harbor House at MK (I love seafood), as well as a list a mile long that I'd like to try. As you can see, I prefer more ethnic/unique foods - what QSs would you recommend make it to my short list?
Thanks!

We went to 'Ohana for the first time a little over a week ago for my birthday, and I am still raving about it. I will also say, I had extremely high expectations because of all the good hype as well, but it is definitely deserving of the hype. The CMs were so nice, and the food was just unbelievable. The absolute only thing I wouldn't give all the stars to were the stir fry veggies. Ours were slightly undercooked so they were crunchier than I'm used to for stir fry. Everything else though? Perfection! Especially that bread pudding! I was also beyond pleasantly surprised by some things I didn't think would be my favorites, like the pork dumplings and the grilled chicken. They were awesome! I figured I'd be all about the steak and shrimp, but the chicken was so good!

Ohana is a great experience, and the location is perfect for your MVMCP plans, so I'd keep it (even though we love San Angel!)

Some more exotic QS places we love...Tangierine Café, Katsura Grill, Harambe Marketplace, and Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café (good way to try the Y&Y experience if you don't end up going to the TS option).

Thanks everyone - with all the rave reviews I knew that 'Ohana wouldn't be bad, but from reading the description I was just picturing bowls of food plopped on your table, like when I used to work at a summer camp. But they never gave us shrimp or dumplings! I'm excited to try it now - it's just hard when each choice you make means you have to say no to something else. I figure I'll fill in the culinary gaps with some great QS places. But with the exception of Marrakesh years and years ago (seriously - about 25 years, when I was 12), these are all new restaurants for me. I can't wait!

Sounds like a nice, varied list of well-reviewed restaurants. 'Ohana is great, and I don't think you'll be disappointed. The family-style service is done with care and some attention to presentation, and the grilled meats are brought tableside and served to you straight from the skewer, similar to what you'd see in a Brazilian steakhouse. You won't feel like things have just been carelessly plopped on the table! :)

'Ohana is one of my favorites. The only thing I could add about it is to watch out that you don't get overstuffed right before an evening in the parks. You can get stuffed just on the appetizers, and by the time they come around with the skewers of meat and shrimp you feel that you have to eat even more just to get your money's worth. I have a hard time slowing down, so now I only eat at 'Ohana when I'm planning on just heading back to the room after dinner.

I have an 'Ohana reservation the night I'm going to MVMCP and I'm concerned about getting overstuffed before heading to the park- no one needs to see a grown woman toss her cookies on the Mine Train. I'm thinking I may ditch it and just try Trader Sams, getting there right when it opens. I figure I can go to 'Ohana on my next visit, after I'm done with the parks for the day. Nothing like a food coma after walking 10+ miles!

LOL! Do what you think is best. Although I don't think you would toss your cookies on mine train. Now Space Mountain is more likely. (Not saying you would).

You could do Ohana and just make a point to skip the free cookies and hot chocolate until much later in the evening. Same goes for any special treats being offered for sale.

At least on Space Mountain no one would see me lol

Overstuffing at 'Ohana before MVMCP is one of my concerns, so I'm hoping that the the 3:45 reservation is early enough that I will be coming out of my food coma by 7pm. I figured if I'm having trouble moving, I'll just do a few laps on the monorail first, lol!

We went back to Magic Kingdom after a 6:25pm dinner, and we were fine. We just popped on the Railroad for a few spins around the park when we got back inside, and then we were settled enough that we were good to go! (Would have preferred the Peoplemover, but it wasn't working that day!)

You should be fine. Have a small breakfast. Then consider this a late lunch/early dinner. Skip dessert at 'Ohana. Then MUCH later in the party go for the free cookies and hot chocolate.

Looks like you did a good job!

Now I guess you and I will be stalking the website until the Fantasmic packages are available!
