ADR'S....Lets Wing It!

If it were just me and DH we'd probably wing it minus a special meal or two...but I'd never wing it with younger kids. While we don't eat meals at the same time every day, it's a lifesaver to know exactly when and where your next meal will be so you can figure out snacks. I'd also insist on ADRS for a large group We will be a party of 9 next trip and it's highly doubtful we'd ever be seated at Ohana or Chef Mickey's without one.

The first trip dh and I went on, we didn't even have a room ressie. We were in the state, and thought we would pop over. Worked out great. When we took the family for the first time, we at least had a room ressie. We only did one TS, and DH and DS booked it, while DD and I had a nap. That was the first time we heard about 180 days. Well, Tony's worked out great. It was a little bit of magic when Spectro went by while we were eating, and has been a favorite ever since.

To each their own, but I'm shaking and my left eye has developed a twitch at the very thout of no ADRs:eek:
Oh, same here. I actually felt anxiety reading @real mad hatter's post. Personally, I would never even consider an ADR-less trip unless it was a completely spur of the moment trip and even then I would probably try to book something before I left.

Sorry guys! We are one of those. Those that make no adr's and no dining plan. We've never made it and just wing it. We have been 22 times and never had either and got in any where we want. And, we have been in the summer months with a child too.
We have walked up and got in right away to Le Cellier, Sci-Fi, and the Brown Derby. We waited about 5 mts. one time for the French rest. Now, since we have gone by ourselves without the DD, we have been able to get in even more times. Seems like it is easier to get a table for two.
We are not big table-service eaters so rather spend our time doing the shows and rides. If we want a break, we just park it on a bench and people watch to rest. We are QS eaters and love the surprise to see where we can get food next. Hey, but that's just us!!:D

Interesting and varied views on this subject.I suppose you've got to take in wither your just with your partner,or are you with kids,or do you prefer a fast food QS restaurant. But one thing I do find strange, now this is my opinion only..For people who stay onsite, yet want to eat offsite. OK,maybe there's a favourite restaurant that you've been too on I- Drive and you want to go back, but to eat offsite every night whilst your staying onsite baffles me..I know it's a lot cheaper but I just don't get the logic behind that one.If that was the case,I would stay offsite, eat offsite, save a fortune, and book a few signature restaurants onsite. The money Ive saved staying at a hotel on I- Drive would pay for those onsite meals..Ive got to read this again to make sure I'am understanding what Ive just wrote...:(

Totally makes sense to me, Hatter!
Yes, I do think it makes a difference with or without kids. And once we pull on-property, I am not getting into that car until the day we leave--especially not for a restaurant.;)
