Hello my gastronomic gourmet friends. Having just read that our Mr Ferret is soon off to WDW for 14 nights, but has not booked one, that's correct, one ADR. ( I'am sure he's on the QS free DDP tho ) Have any of you decided to go down that option? Now I understand if your only going for say 5 or 7 days, then this might be a huge gamble. But if you had a 14 night vacation and were on the QS plan but wanted to do maybe 3 or 4 TS meals. Therefore you've got this 14 day window to try and get something booked when you get to your resort. Is this achievable, even in the busy months, like July.? Just curious if any of yourself's have tried this option.?

Not on the DDP it just doesnt work for us tbh.the only place we want to try specific is T-Rex .
We are not sit down full meal type people tbh.If there was somewheere we wanted to try specific we would do the 180 day dance but we just prefer to wing it and quite often eat offsite

I am definitely a TS person. I like about 1 day, 2 if we're in EPCOT! If I were on a quick long weekend vacation, like a 4 day weekend, I probably wouldn't bother with so many TS b/c they do take up a lot of time. I'd try to fit in one, and do QS the rest of the time. As for my normal week/week and a half long trips, I would never do it without reservations! There's too many places I love that are part of the whole vacation, and to think I'd probably miss most of them would be disappointing.

We do the Deluxe Dining Plan but wont do 3 sit down meals a day. We will generally do a Dinner sit down to recharge our batteries and like my beloved Yachtsman its a 2TS credit meal. We will also do a charcater breakfast..I dont eat a heavy breakfast but with an 8 and 11 year old they eat more..so ADR's are a must for us..

I'm sure he meant DTD:)
Phew! Just for one moment there I thought the Ferrets were leaving the Magic Bubble and entering the real world via the I - Drive route..Strange people wander the streets, especially at night, faces drawn, dark shadows loom in every driveway, speaking tongues I don't understand. Help! Get me back inside my safe haven..Wheres that pixie dust gone,I need my fix right now.:(

A party of two has a much easier time getting ADR/walk up seatings in my experience. I have nnot gone in July in 14 years, but when I have been it has been reasonable. Walk up to Brown Derby, seated in 5. Walk up to Rose and crown, seateds in 30.
Cool.Cheers..All our 5 trips have been in July and altho we've done ADRS Ive also been able to get night reservations without ADR at House of Blues,Sanaa,50's Prime Time,Rainforest DTD,etc.

I have walked up at Sci Fi before. Oddly, given the foods reputation, it often has a longer wait. I have waited more than 30min. One time, they gave my seating to another family that had the same last name. That was over 30.
