Our 180 day mark is on May 18 and I am getting nervous about getting some of our choices! In all the years we have been going, there's ever been an issue getting some of the popular picks, but this year I am worried! I would love some thoughts on alternative locations incase I cannot snag a reservation at O'hana for dinner, California Grill or Narcossee, and Chef Mickey or 1900 Park Fare for breakfast. Just throw something out there because I'm drawing blanks! We've done a lot of dining at Disney so don't be afraid to throw something out there that we might have already tried!

We got everything we wanted online at 6am (11am here in UK) 180+10 days for our October trip. I started by selecting the ones I knew would be harder to get like 8am breakfast at CP and at Tusker then moved onto Ohana dinner and so on. We got a Chef Mickey breakfast for our last day. I wasn't looking for BoG as I wanted to avoid any hassle/disappointment but came across one for 7:30pm on day 5 of our trip.

We really like CP and Tusker for breakfast. We love Liberty Tree but it's shut when we're there but it may be open by your date? Hopefully you'll get everything you're looking for.

If you aren't located too far away to call easily (like many fans who don't live in the US & are "limited" to the online system), you could also try calling if you don't see what you are looking for online. I had found several times available for an anniversary dinner ADR when we are there in Sept, but by the time I decided to go ahead and book it, the online came up on multiple tries saying they "could not search for a table".....then "no tables available". That didn't sound right since there had been a good selection of times the day or so before, so I called, and the CM was able to book it for me at a time that we wanted. Granted this was for Artist Point, which is not in as great a demand as many of the others, but it could still be worth your while to call, since it appears to me that the CM's have better access to the system than we do.
Good Luck, I hope you are able to get the locations that you want!

First off...make sure you have your ADRs ranked in order of difficulty when it comes to booking. Obviously, 'Ohana dinner is a tough one, but it may not be as hard if the meal falls later in your trip. I think Chef Mickey's breakfast will likely be your next most difficult, but Cali Grill timed with Wishes won't be far behind. Narcoosee's and 1900 PF always seem to be be easier to book. In fact, I switched things around last minute last trip and got a decently timed dinner at Narcoosee's the day before...although, last minute openings seems to be the new way to stalk the site since so many people drop last minute to avoid no show fees.

Beyond this, I much prefer the website over the phone. I'm not saying it's perfect, but I find it much quicker and adaptable/flexible than the phone. I'm to the point that I'll have my laptop going as well as DH's when I book ADRs. This way, while one is 'thinking' - I can get the ball rolling for the next ADR on his. I've done test runs with this method and while it's kind of insane, it's shaved about 5 - 7 min off of my overall ADR booking time on day 180. I also have our phones and tablets ready to go in case the website jams but the app is working. Plus, the website opens an hour before the phones, so it only makes sense to try online before resorting to calling. A few other tips---> start trying just before 6am ET since sometimes the website flips early...try searching dinner vs. a time if you're afraid slots are going to be in high demand...if something isn't showing openings right at 6am- try again in a few min after booking something else - as all time slots aren't always loaded to the website right at 6am.

As for suggestions in case you can't get any of these...Citrico's is another great option in the MK area. We're also big fans of Yachtsman and Flying Fish if you're over in the Epcot area. Sanaa and Jiko would be great choices if you're willing to head out to AKL. Not sure if there's a really good substitute if you can't get 'Ohana, but other fun meals are WCC and 50s. As for character meals, like I said- don't see 1900 being an issue...I mean, I booked it for my bday around the 150 day mark and there were TONS of openings. In fact, I had lots of Chef Mickey's openings as an option too.

If you aren't able to get 'Ohana, we have really enjoyed the Kona Cafe. It's aways a good idea to have 2nd choices in mind...just in case. If you are looking for ideas for "backups", it might be worth it to at least check out the menu to see if it appeals to you. Those two are near each other at the Poly, though the experience and menus are different. We like 'Ohana but often don't try for it simply because there is so much food, we just can't eat enough to make it worth it for us. Sounds like you have some good choices planned!

Our favourites are Ohana as you've mentioned, raglan road (fantastic entertainment and food), Boma (best buffet in our opinion), and coral reef (ask for a table next to the aquarium, particularly good if you have kids :))

Is this because of Free Dine? I've never done Free Dine and every time I've gone I've gotten exactly the reservations I wanted, including dinner at BOG. Maybe I just don't like the popular restaurants? I usually book at 180 but then tweak here and there all along the way with no trouble.

Thanks everyone! I obsess over our ADRs every year! Planning is part of the fun of a Disney trip!! I've never had an issue with getting all of our ADRs except the one year we had to switch our trip by one week!! I guess I'm just concerned over free dining going on while we are there. We are a military family and find that the military salute is a better deal for us instead of free dining. We are staying at Poly this year and are super excited for that! Every year we try to eat at some favorites while also trying something new!! Here's our plans::
Saturday, arrival night: Kona Cafe
Sunday: Raglan Road
Monday: CG or Narcossee
Tuesday: La Hacienda
Wednesday: O'hana or Chef Mickey Dinner
Thursday: 1900 Park Fare breakfast
Friday: last day Disney Springs open
