adding days to discounted tickets

I called WDW a week or so ago to inquire about the price of 8 day parkhoppers for 2 adults and two children under 10. The total I was given was around $1600 and some change. Then I remembered that as a Walmart employee, I can get on the Walmart benefits website and get discounted theme park tickets, and WDW tickets are included. They do not offer 8 day passes apparently, but there was an offer for 7 day parkhoppers for the price of 4 day parkhoppers. I priced it for 2 adults and 2 children, and the total came to around $1300 and some change. We may or may not need that 8th day, or if we do, it may just be me and the kids going in one evening after supper while the wife rests back in the room. But I was just curious if we are able to add days onto tickets purchased through an employee discount offer, and where there are 3 free days. If I am able to do so, would it be the cost of adding a 5th day (since I actually paid for 4), or would it be the cost of adding an 8th day (since they would be 7 day passes)?

Most tickets that I've ever heard of as *not* being upgradable are Comp tickets that have no monetary value (Those are typically used in guest-recovery issues) or some special Florida Resident tickets.

I presume that discount tickets from an employer would operate the same way as discounted tickets from a reseller like Undercover Tourist. if that's the case, make sure to *use* the tickets to enter a theme park first. This will lock in the value of the ticket as the *current* gate price. You can then go and upgrade the ticket at Guest Relations and it'll only cost you the difference between the gate prices of the ticket you have (7-day) and the ticket you want (8-day), so about $10 per person.

you were correct until this week
i am not sure when it will go into effect- or if this is even accurate- but i read on another website this week about this policy changing.

we always purchase our tickets through undercover tourist, and if we need to add a day, are credited the gate value of the ticket and just pay the 10 or so dollars to add a day. according to wdwforadults this week, they will no longer be honoring this policy, although they don't say when it goes into effect.

so now you would have to pay the difference between AND PAY ATTENTION TO THIS- WHAT THE DISCOUNTER PAID- NOT WHAT YOU PAID TO THE DISCOUNTER- and then the upgrade fee. so if a ticket is worth $100 and you got it for $90 but undercover tourist paid them $80 for it, then you get credit for $80, and then you can pay the $20 difference AND 10 bucks to add a day or 50 to add hopper, etc.

not too happy about this, my thinking was that this will force people to buy the extra day or hopper from the discounter whether they are sure they will use it or not, so disney wins again!

This is the first I've heard of this, so I will cautiously keep an eye on reports in the coming months about experiences upgrading tickets.

Does anyone know the answers to my questions below?

I purchased a 7 day park hopper ticket from AAA. They sent me the card in the mail and it is a real ticket like you would get at the gate. I decided that I want to add a day to it. Can I do that since it's a AAA ticket and if so do I do it after I enter the park for the first time or before I enter the park for the first time? Would I be paying about $10 to add the day?

Yes, you can add days to the ticket. You should use the ticket to enter a theme park *before* upgrading. You should then only be charged the difference between the gate price of the ticket you have and the price of the ticket you want. (So about $10 per day)
