Adding another adult to room

Hi everyone! I have a trip planned to the Boardwalk Inn for Dec 12th through 18th. It will be me, my husband and two sons (age 3 years and 8 months) My question is that my mom decided to go with us a while ago but when I called to add her to the room they wouldn't do it because we have a package so to add her to the room we would have to buy her tickets too. I didn't want to do this because she works on a military base (civilian) so she can get discounted tickets. Long story short they wouldn't add her to the room and now I'm wondering how she's going to get into the room if she wanted to take the boys back for a nap midday while me and my husband stay at the parks. I know our tickets are going to be on our room key so I can't give her that, so can I add her to the room when we arrive? Can I get a spare room key? I don't have any problem paying an extra fee for an extra adult in the room but I couldn't see having to add her on our package at the time and paying for her tickets. Thanks!:)

You options are to add her on or to switch the reservation to a room only. The big down side to a room only is you can't get the dining plan. One other thing you can do is reduce your tickets to 1 day tickets, upgrade when you get to the parks and hold onto your mom's ticket for a later date.

We've already finished paying for the package so I'm not going to switch the package to room only. The trip is for this December, not next December so we've basically already paid for our tickets and room. I just need to know when we check in if we can add her just to the room so she can have a key or get another key for the hotel room.

When you get there. Get a key for your sons with there names on them. Then she can just use that to get into the room and you and ur husband can stay at the parks with your tickets.

You will not be able to do this unless she is part of the package. When you book a package, each person in the room must be on the same package...there are no exceptions to this. Richard's plans are the only ways to legally add her to the room. You can book a room only and do the tickets separately. Or you can add her to the room, and reduce everyone to a one day ticket. Then you can upgrade your passes to whatever you want, and save hers for another time to credit whatever you might want.

Also, keep in mind that after 2 adults Disney will charge you $25 a day for an extra adult in a deluxe resort room.

thanks for everyones responses. I looked it up on another site and you can get spare room keys. I'm just gonna have to do it that way (although it may be "illegal" )because I called a couple of weeks ago and they are not going to change my package to room only since the package is already paid off and I won't be able to save the tickets my mom purchased b/c we may not be able to go back until several years. I wouldn't mind paying $25 extra a night (my mom was gonna pay that)it's just that at the time I can't see paying an extra $200 or more for ticket for someone that already had tickets. Thanks again for everyones replies.

Can she get her discounted ticket at the window or does she HAVE to get it on base? The reason I ask this b/c we had the same situation (but slightly different) My mom is a FL resident BUT in order to get the free dining for her on our package I had to add her to my reservation pay the extra fee for adults and get her the same ticket we all had. I then took her ticket to the window@ guest relations and "removed" her ticket from her room key. In other words hers was a room key only it was not a park ticket. Once at the window we switched the base ticket I bought with the package to a FL resident ticket and got money back......
I would also say that if you do have free dining, it might be cheaper in the long run to just go ahead and her to your reservation and pay full price for the ticket...work the numbers

If you were to downgrade to one day passes and then upgrade your's, the unused ticket would be valid until you chose to do something with it. There would be no expiration on the day.

There *is* another option, which the OP kinda hit on in their last post referring to what they read on another forum, but is actually a legal option.

Once you check in, you *can* add an additional person to the room, as long as you don't exceed the maximum occupancy (which you won't because of the infant). They'll issue her a room key, and most likely charge you the extra-adult per-night fee. She won't get tickets or any Dining Plan that you might have on your package.

People often do this with people who will only be an extra Guest in the room for a few days.

The one sticking point would be that because she won't be a registered Guests until you get to the resort, there is no way to get her on Magical Express...

Thanks again for the responses...I'm either going to just use my son's room key for her or I'll see about adding her when we actually check in...I'll figure it out when we get there. We aren't using the dining plan or magical express (we are using a pin code for 40% off the resort and driving down) thanks again for the help!
