Adding additional guests after check in

I know it's trivial to add additional guests prior to check in, a simple call to CRO should be all that is needed. But what about after check in? Can CRO modify a reservation after they have checked in to add an extra member, or does this need to be done at the front desk? It's a strange request but I have my reasons.

i am pretty certain the front desk can handle this. but if you have a package, it may still negate any discounts/free dining etc. they may just re-book the entire thing.
for a room only reseravtion it should only be the $25 extra charge per day per person.

I am 99% certain that it has to be done at the front desk. From what I remember this was a kind of workaround to having everyone on the same package. From what I remember, the person could be added to the room but tickets and dining could not. I have no idea if that still works like that though. Maybe @CaptainShortty might be able to shed some light.

We haven't done this in recent years but we have several times in the past. We made the change at the front desk. Pretty sure we added my aunt once when we were on a package with dining. I can't remember the particulars about the ticket media. I think we took our tickets to Guest Relations to strip the ticket media & upgrade to APs. Then we went to the hotel and they added her with the dining plan for the kid's price. It wasn't that terrible. Again, we're talking a little over 6 years ago. No telling if it could actually be done now. Another time we added my brother to a concierge room-only at check-in. They added him under some weird category so there was no additional charge for him. That was pretty cool all things considered. That one was 2 1/2 years ago.

Once you check into the hotel, each aspect of your package reservation (room, tickets, dining plan) is then separated from each other. So you can add days to individual tickets, add people to the room, etc without affecting the rest of the items on the package. The only thing that can't be added to or changed is the Dining Plan.

So everyone seems to believe that I can add the guest to the reservation after the fact. But it sounds like I would need to do this at the front desk vs CRO, which means I need to get really creative. Darn MDE showing everyone who is on the reservation......

Not sure why you need to get creative, unless you will be over the room occupancy limit...?

Nah, one of the party doesn't know that someone else is coming down a day later as a surprise. Seeing reports of CM's spoiling things like proposals, which aren't nearly as obvious as "So, are all the members of your party here now?" question they are likely to ask at check in. Calling CRO is something that could be done from anywhere, otherwise need to find a reason to get the surpriseee to not go to the desk when the other person has to stop to make the change.

I understand! You can honestly answer "yes" to the "so are all the members of your party here now?" at check in, since you will not be adding the surprise guest until later. Then, on the day he/ she is set to arrive, go by yourself to the front desk and add him/ her to the room. We added our daughter to ours the morning of the day she was going to arrive. And we didn't even have to pay the additional person fee, which we were all set to do.

I have added a friend who drove over from Tampa to spend a few days with us when I took a mother daughter trip a few years ago, she bought her own tickets, no DDP, but then again we didn't have it either. We got a roll away bed added to the room and she paid the extra charge. We only had two people in a value, so adding a third was not a big deal. We did it all at the front desk of the resort, when we checked in, adding her for the next day. My biggest concern was the bed, we did not want to share. The beds are too small to share with a friend!
