(Actually...it was a little eerie seeing it after it happened...knowing what had happened the previous day)

It hasn't gone back out yet...........

Good evening!

Good evening!

I must repeat....as of today the family IS NOT PLANNING TO SUE, please understand and I restate....we want WDW to upgrade and improve their safety procedures...that is why I am suggestion/proposing solutions! We understand that monetary solutions toward our family will never bring back our loved one.....What I do know...is that upgrading and improving this particular Parade will greatly, if not, and absolutely ensure the avoidance of another fatality.

As someone has admited, these safety procedures have been around for 33 years...many vehicles, road, tracks and other factors have chance since then....so way have not these safety procedure?????

Please learn the quote system, it makes it much easier to read

I'm an entertainment CM, and I can tell you for a fact that saftey changes have been taking place, as I have been experiencing them in a first hand basis. Many of them have been minor, since, as you have said, all the investigations haven't finished.

Plus, all managers have made it very clear to bring any saftey concerns that we may have to them.

We have a glimpst of the Sherriff report....it states that the victim lost his balance and fell backwards......

It does not state...that he was wondering around inbetween the float sections

It does not state...he was picking up a fallen hat/visor from an animator worker...

Still awaiting for two other reports...and the arial firming from a helicopter flying above coincidently....as of today the arial report defers greatly from the Walt Disney report....Looks like Walt Disney will need to answer tough questions....I will keep you posted!

We appreciate your family's acceptance of this, and I apologize for replying so harshly to your initial post. I agree that there are some things that Disney can do to possibly make things safer.

Again, everyone has to share in the responsibility of being a parade performer, and has to understand the risks involved.

Thanks for your updates on the Sheriff reports - we appreciate the accurate information.

As a parade performer in two of the disney parades (mgm's and spectro). there are many things they tell you to do and not to do. I am not going to bash any one or try to get them into trouble but I am going to state what I know and what seems odd to me.

I have been yelled at for going to close to floats on stage and off stage while the floats are moving. Any performer knows this due to anything that can happen at any moment, as in a quick stop or rolling backwards. Also, a few friends of mine were talking about where Javier was when he was hit. We do not mean to be harsh in any way we want to understand as well. It does not make sense to us why he was there with the princess float when it was not his unit. That is what we all were trying to figure out. And as for Pluto I know from personal experience that he can not see very well.

I don't know what more to say than this is horrible that happened. The only thing is I guess one gets comfortable by floats, I for sure have never had. Once again we are all saddened by this loss.

Position of Float...

Atta,

Maybe you can assist OSHA,

The issue stems from the procedures and preparation prior to executing the Parade path.

Basically, a preparation period, a stage period and the commencement take place, is that correct?

Also, if we use the railroad tracks as a marker, first where was the Finale Float and the Float involved with the incident? And where do characters take off with their responsible float?

The problem arises when or where characters take off while their float move along to get ready for the staging area. So if Javier was awaiting for his float, while the leading floats were moving to setup there markers or staging area and he lost his balance/concsiousness and got disoriented (even for a few seconds) while these floats (with exposed sections and hinches) were moving along with all blind spots taken in consideration (Driver/float, Characters) we have a no win situation!

Thanks for all your most sincere considerations!

All the rest that I can say is when you cross the yellow line that means that you are performing and guest can see you. All I am saying is that when I have seen those pictures that were on the internet that the news has captured they seem to be by that sight line if, I am mistaken then I am sorry. That means the float was moving at the time passing the sight line and no one is to be near the moving float. The performers for that float are in front of that float, while the performers from the last float should of been with their float. Other than that I do not know what to say.

Simply put, Javier moved ahead early, and was going to pick up his unit at the sight line. This isn't normal procedure, and he really should not have been up at the sight line yet.

So you can't really take Javier's accident into normal operations, because he wasn't performing a normal operation. He, in all honesty, should have been back with his unit, moving in front of his float, in the driver's vision.

I am friends with a cast member who was working the day of the accident. I'm not saying this is true, because I didn't see it personally, but they told me he was "trying to get someone's hat", and said he was definitely "not where he was supposed to be". She knew him very well, so I don't think she'd be inaccurate about the information she had. But, I guess the only choice we have is to wait until reports are released. We'll always remember him.

Who would have a hat where he was? I think it would have had to be a character/performers and I don't remember anyone having a hat around that area.

I'm not saying your CM friend is a lier or anything, but very unlikely. Javier was at the wrong place at the wrong time...Thoughts and Prayers to the family.

Not a big fan of the parade. Are there animators near that area then?
There are CMs dressed as animators riding tricycles with animation boards on the handlebars.
