About Tower of Terror

Anyone knows the ride's height in meters? I'm asking because there's a theme park down here in Brazil that's building a ride like it, WITH THE SAME NAME (not the Twilight Zone part, just the "Tower of Teror") and they claim to be the tallest in the world, with a 100 meters drop. I kinda doubt it, but you never know so... Anybody?

One meter is 39 inches (or 3 inches longer than a yard), so the drop would be longer then the size of an American football field (which is 100 yards). Is that even possible?

Well, I found a converter online, and it gave me around 47 meters... I really don't think it's right. 157 is the drop's height, right? What's the building's height?

Actually, 47 meters as an "around" is right. 157 feet comes up as 48.3 meters in the metric system. The calculation was:

157ft x 12in = 1884inches

Now, to convert to metric, we know that 39inches = 1meter.

1884 divided by 39 = 48.307692 meters

The building's height has been quoted as 199 feet, which may not all be building to allow for lightning rods and whatnot. Following the same process, in metric, the building is 61.23079 meters tall.

Hope this helps...

OK. That's officially too much thinking on the forum!

Thanks, Joe!

So we can pretty much say 50 meters... Now the Brazilian one claims to be 2 times that. I SERIOUSLY doubt it. And if it is, I'd NEVER ride it! I don't trust national products... :lookaroun

I know...guess I'm in need of another visit to WDW. :hammer:  :D

If I remember correctly it is 199 ft tall. Something to the effect that if it were 200 ft tall they would have to put a flashing light on top of it such that airplanes could see it at night.

Now using my handy-dandy HP 48s calculator that equates to 60.6552 meters.

The building is 199, the drop is less.

Also, there is another ToT in Australia, it's the first to break the speed record. It's at Dream World, I think.

MKCustodial, where did you originally hear of this? Obviously we've all proved it to be quite a drop, and now if it is real, I'm sure I' love to ride it.

Is the drop really 157 ft? I think it may be less.

one story=10.5 ft
13 stories= 136.5 ft

Unless the 13 stories thing is just a "story"

Hey man, I am Brasilian too. Na verdade poderíamos até falar em português, mas os outros não entenderiam, então vou escrever em inglês mesmo, valeu? What them park are you refering too? Is it Hopi Hari? Because if it is, I've been there, and the drop is actually amazing...seems it will never end. But it is diferent of ToT, because it is a continuous drop.

What type of ride is it? Is it those Intiman elevator drop rides?

MUCH LESS. With the recent drop profiles, you bounce more than drop. I'd be surprised if you fell more than 5 stories before you are shot back up again.

I heard it on TV down here, but the thing is not ready yet, so I still haven't found a record of it.
