About time to refurbish some attractions

Here's a list of attractions you can complain about that I think really need a refurbishment of either being outdated, or anything else.

• 1, Journey into Imagination with Figment (boooring, outdated)
• 2, Sounds Dangerous (outdated, boooring)
• 3, Jungle Cruise (outdated)
• 4, Country Bear Jamboree (maintenance issues)
• 5, Peter Pan's Flight (outdated, short)
• 6, Mission: Space (just a carnival ride)
• 7, Hollywood Studios Backlot Tour (boooring)
• 8, Reflections of China (boooring)
• 9, Maelstrom (outdated, maintenance issues, short)
• 10, Tom Sawyer Island (outdated)
• 11, Stitch's Great Escape (boooring, outdated)
• 12, TTA People Mover (maintenance issues)
• 13, Great Movie Ride (outdated)
• 14, Wonders of Life (reopen, refurbish, WHATEVER!)
  

So far, I dont mind M:S, TSI, TTAPM, GMR, or JC.

Mission: Space is just another carnival ride. As much effort they say they put into it, face it, it's just another spinny ride with a movie and buttons!

Stitch's Great Escape! is crap. Nothing more to say.

Great Movie Ride could use some new sets and movie scenes. But I'm afraid if Disney does add new movie scenes, I could just see a Beverly Hills Chiuaua replace the Indiana Jones scene. Or a Lilo and Stitch scene replace the Alien scene...:ROFLOL:

Every time I've been on the TTA People mover, not once have I been on it without stopping. Luckily I got a free any-attraction fastpass, so I went on it every day I was at MK! :sohappy:

Maelstrom and Peter Pan's Flight are both outdated and too short. Consider adding more to each attraction.

Journey Into Imagination With Figment... bring back the original ride. Face it Disney, nothing else will work with the pavilion, or Figment. Figment just doesn't get along with Dr. Nigel Channing

Jungle Cruise is a little old now.

Country Bear Jamboree's main problem is audio. It really needs a tune up on the animatronics as well. Perhaps add the three shows back too.. But I never want to see it replaced!

Reflections of China is quite boring. Not to mention if you've walked around World Showcase you aren't in the mood for standing and cracking your neck up to see the screen. O' Canada is at least good now that it's been upgraded..

Tom Sawyer Island, again I don't care about it. But some new interactive stuff could be out here.

Backlot Tour needs to be expanded.

I have to disagree with Jungle Cruse, its classic and I like it. Mission is an unfair deal I think, I ride it and almost got sick. Sadly I only rode the green version. It needs more family orientated features. Maybe a planetarium and a slow moving ride. I have more fun exploring the trails in the parkland by my house then I do visiting Tom Sawers Island. I think we would like Journey into your Imagination the way it is now if there wasn't something better before it. Sadly the economy is bad and gas is now almost 4 dollars to the gallon which will lower attendance so I don't think there is any money to fix those attractions right now. They wasted an arm an a leg on Journey into your Imagination. At least Spaceship Earth isn't displaying the vision of today from 1994.

Well this saves me time from creating my first thread. I was going to make a comment on the Great Movie Ride, and yes it is outdated and I feel something needs to undertake a major refurb, or ultimately replaced.

I've felt this way since DHS changed their name from MGM Studios. Most of those movies inside the ride are associated with MGM. The movie clips they show at the pre-show as well as the final montage is in SD format. And I'm sure everyone who goes to Disney can't stand the SD format anymore. (Yes I'm being fecetious with that comment...) The dialog sucks and seems to be forced by the cast members and the ride feels antiquated. Yes this has once been a favorite of mine but seriously, its in need of being overhauled or retired.

As for the other rides/attractions mentioned....

• 5, Peter Pan's Flight (outdated, short) Is there any room for expansion? And perhaps an up grade to the audio and character models.
• 6, Mission: Space (just a carnival ride) A carnival ride? Never in my life have I seen Mission Space at a Carnival. What Carnival have you been too?

• 8, Reflections of China (boooring) No Comment.

I agree with The Great Movie Ride. I see so much potential in this attraction that is not being used. They have a wealth of material to draw from. The track and passenger cars need not be replaced. Merely the scenes. And not even all of the scenes. A few new scenes would do this ride wonders.

3, I'm saying a refurbishment would be nice. With updated animatronics and perhaps a new storyline for the ruins scene.

5, Maybe not an expansion but perhaps replace dolls with big animatronic scenes like the pirate ship part.
6, Yes. It's a spinning carnival ride, the expensive part is just the movie.
7, You list nothing.
8, As well as there shouldn't be a comment.
9, Indeed, but a new storyline with some kind of classic troll scene from an old book would be nice.

I think the only ones that REALLY need an update are
Sounds Dangerous - Yeahhh....bulldoze it. Put the hat THERE instead.
Imagination - Pathetic.

Backlot Tour needs to be plussed, for sure.

Wonders of Life - Do SOMETHING with it.

The problem is that a lot of the stuff in WDW is becomnig LARGE, IN YOUR FACE, MORE MORE MORE MORE. There is a "quaintness" and "classic" feeling to a lot fo the attractions on your list, and I dont' know, maybe I'm just different than most, but I'd prefer a lot of them to stay the way they are. :wave:

As for the Imagination attraction (WondersOfLife,) I had no idea they refurbed....ahem... trashed it twice. I just read the rundown on Wikipedia. And I guess I'll throw my support towards a full replacement. I still thought the original version somehow survived...I stand corrected.

Just make sure to go on it not expecting Space Mountain. There isn't much too it other than it being a classic. Theres rarely a line for it and its shaded - which helps when its sunny.

I like it anyway.

As far as the TTA goes, they need to go back to the original soundtrack. The new one stinks. I told the cm when we got off and he agreed and shrugged his shoulders. :hurl:

My list is similar, but with some things excluded. Some of the things you listed need more than what I classify as a "refurbishment," namely Journey into Imagination, which needs an overhaul, and Sounds Dangerous and Stitch's Great Escape, which just need to go.

My list would also add Dinosaur (broken effects), Expedition Everest (broken Yeti), Test Track (make it work a little better and add a real post-show), and Carousel of Progress (adjust the last scene, clean it up).

I agree. No doubt the sound can be improved and such but the concept and the storylines should remain. Would Small World be the same if you were flying in a plane? No. There is a coziness associated with certain rides.

What i see as things that need to be done in the near future:

-replace/update Journey Into Imagination.
-axe Stitch's Great Escape...please something new and BETTER.
-axe Sounds Dangerous..horrible show.
-fix the dang Yeti in Everest already!
-doze WOL Pavillion and replace with a new one.
-either totally upgrade the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway or doze it for something new.
-finish the decent on Spaceship Earth.
-give Space Mountain the PROPER refurbishment...new track, and onboard audio please. (and what's futuristic about mannequins wearing glasses in that stupid station on the lifthill? So 1982!)
-update the Great Movie Ride.
-axe the Backlot Tour in favor of something new. It's such a pathetic shadow of its former self.

Wow...there's alot of work to be done to bring the resort up to what it should be.

I've been hoping for a total refurb of the GMR for years now. To me it sticks out as a ride in desperate need of updating from top to bottom, more than any other ride in DHS or really any of the other parks.

Also, I take issue with the TTA hate! It's perfect! Just like the steam train around the MK (another ride I love) it serves its purpose perfectly and is a great way to get small children introduced to Space Mountain. Too scared to ride SM? Ride the TTA and see that it's not that bad! Plus, it's relaxing retro cool, and gives great views for people/park watching.
