Ok, so we've been hearing for a long time now that a new land could hit Disney's Animal Kingdom after Forbidden Mountain, or maybe even with Forbidden Mountain. Talks about Austrailia, North America and the return of Beastly Kingdom have all been bouncing around on different sites as of late. According to some, Australia is the old front runner, and now North America being the front runner for a new section in DAK, with the soon to be released movie Brother Bear (ofcoarse that depends on the movie's success). Beastly Kingdom is no stranger to the rumor sites, and has been around for a long time, and recently its been mentioned on this site quite alot. The only problem with Beastly Kingdom is, that IOA has a similar type of section know as "the lost continent".

So then, what will be the next section at DAK??? Lets take a look at the possibilities for each of the rumored lands: (just speculation, this is not info from a source in "Imagineering" or anything like that...so its just what is perhaps possible...based on my opinion which like I said is not fact:lookaroun ).

---------------------------

AUSTRALIA

Lets see, this would make for a couple of great animal exhibits because Australia is known for rare species of animals like the Kangaroo and Koala.

What kind of eticket or other type of ride can you have here? Maybe one dealing with the Aboriginal tribes in the outback. Maybe a dark ride, or some kind of coaster. This section would fit between Africa and Asia and make a nice transition.

Theme: Aboriginal Tribe village, perhaps the centerpiece being a one of those outback red Ayer Rocks (the big red mountain looking thing)

Disney movies (character great): Rescuer's Down Under

NORTH AMERICA

This would be a great addition to DAK, and while it may not be the one built, it should however at some point be added to the park. North America is home to many animals, such as wolves, bears , buffalos, eagles.

A great ride perhaps featuring the Native Americans and there connection to the natural world could be placed in this section. Maybe a ride about the great people who helped conquer the fronteir in the U.S. (the pocahontas show fits in this section). A kiddie ride based on Bambi could be placed here too.

Theme: Resembling an English colonial settlement (just an idea, so that its not themed around wooden lodges like frontier land). This could fit between Asia and Africa, but could make for a harsh transition between the two. Camp Minnie and Mickey could be another option.

Disney Movies (character greets): Fox and the Hound, Pocahontas, Bambi

BEASTLY KINGDOM!!!!

Although, not dedicated to live animals, Beaslty Kingdom would serve as a great section for DAK.

A section about Dragons, Unicorns maybe even Griffins and the great Pheonix perhaps...and other mythical animals. But hey maybe the animal doesn't have to be mythical, maybe it can just be monster like the monters in Monsters INC. There is an abundant amount of ride concepts which could come out of this section. And while IOA has its lost continent and its Dueling Dragons, I don't think that really matters.

This could be build in the Camp Minnie Mickey area, and the Lion King show could be moved to Africa, where a new theater could be built, becuase its a great show.

Theme: Depending on the Mythical Animal, perhaps a mountain would be a great centerpiece for this section, a mountain filled with dragons perhaps:animwink: .

-------------------

It also seems that Disney isn't really limited to these three, they could have a section based on the Amazon, or Ocean animals. But those have not been as hot as the other rumors.
While Forbidden Mountain is rumored to be built and any new land could take a long time before we see it at DAK, its intresting to look at the possiblities. In Asia, with a bridge connecting Dino with Asia, I think there is room for more exhibits in Asia. Perhaps a Panda exhibit, or another Asian animal. Animals will be important in this park called Animal Kingdom, not just rides.
And with the so called bridge I wonder what will be done, if anything, between Dino and Asia, especially in the lake? With the press event April 21 and 22 in DAK I wonder if these things will be addressed along with what is believed to be Forbidden Mountain. Disney's Animal Kingdom is the only park with alot of acreage to expand upon, so only time will tell what will be built on those acres. For now, rumors will continue to surface, and thats all we'll have for the moment.

What are your thoughts on a possible new section at DAK? What should be the theme and the attractions in this section? Any new info on a possible section at DAK? While we await for FM lets occupy ourselves on what perhaps will be the next DAK rumors.

Pandas are hard to obtain - the Chinese govt. limits who gets pandas... only the nat'l zoo in DC and the San Diego zoo have 'em...

I'd like to see BK. (no not Burger King, Beastly Kingdom :p )
However, North American exhibt intrigues me too... If a NA land was ever to be built, then it would just have to take up residency at Camp Minnie-Mickey, considering CM-M already is sorta themed to the North American continent... with its rustic looking buildings

Er---

BK could still be done. There still is a lot of space and a lot of possibilites that would turn it into something far different from tlostcon. at IOA.

The only thing with BK is I get the feeling Disney WON'T do it, at least in the near future, only becuase Dis. is creating a Yeti for EE:LOTFM. And a yeti is mythical, and it sorta constitutes a mythical animal, and a mythical animal section for AK.

But besides that, Australia would make a good transition between Harambe and Anadapur. After all, the Aboriginal culture is a mix of tribal (Harambe) and spiritual/mythical (Anandapur)

But my vote goes to Beastly Kingdom, only because it has an admirable and exotic theme

I would like to see Australia added somewhere in WDW, either in AK or in WS. I think it would fit in a little better in AK though because like objr said, they have a lot of unique and interesting species of animals that could be added. With the success of the African savannah I'm sure the Australian outback could be recreated and used in some way.

The North America idea is intriguing (sp?) but I wonder if Native Americans were incorporated, which they probably would have to be, if it would cause any controversy. If not then I think that could be another great addition. The American Plains could be an amazing back drop for a new land.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. :D

I think either BK or Austalia would both be GREAT themes! They both have a broad range of possibilities and are great when getting concept ideas. I think BK would look to much like disneys just saying, "Look we can do that too" so I don't think they should go with that(I would LOVE to see it but again...). Australia sounds really neat maybe the E-rade could consist of something to do with getting lost in the outback and finding your way out. We can meet Kangaroos and Croc's and stuff. I don't know just something to think about:lookaroun .

Yes, and at the end kids learn a hard lesson on Death.

Maybe Pohcahontas could get a ride based on the Indian Heritage and :lookaroun "Living with the Land". It could be a Water Boat Ride.

Well, death is a part of the "great circle of life".:animwink:

Any great themed kiddie ride would be great for DAK (I just hope nothing more like Dino-rama or the Imagination ride over at Epcot ever pops up at Disney)...DAK lacks in a great kiddie dark ride I hope that after they build FM and another land with a whole mess of animal exhibits, that they build a nice dark ride, one that the "whole family can enjoy"...but lets see how things go. Just some more thoughts.:hammer: :hammer: :lookaroun

I just saw an early trailer for Brother Bear on the Treasure Planet DVD and it looks like it has some potential. Animals as the stars, a very Lion King feel, and Phil Collins' music. Maybe if this film does well in theatres, AK will add a land that is themed around animals of North America. But even if BB is successful, w/ FM:LotY on the tables it probably would be a while before it showed up, if ever.

I think that at some point eventually, all the continents will be represented, thats just the way disney enivisioned tha park. Maybe antarcticawould be cool...You could probably theme that to be pretty neat. Polar Bears, Penguins, Seals, other animals, i think that would be perty interesting.

Really, when you think about it.....How would you represent Austraila.....I think, after the success of Finding Nemo, They will do a Sea-Based land....They could do Something like Austrailian Gulf, but I Think a broader Image off all the worlds oceans would be more of the answer...Think about it..Once the get rid of Ariels Grotto at MK, they could move it over to AK, add some fountains, and you got the parks water-play area. Plop a Little Mermaid Dark Ride next to it, and you got a little mermaid Mini Land Next to the Sea Land. A finding Nemo dark ride, boat ride, or small coaster (like flounders flying fish coaster) Could be great....A show about the worlds oceans, and maybe even a soaring clone....now, compare these possibilties and obvious theming possibilities to Austraila

Australia

Australia does have a number of things going for it: the sea/finding Nemo stuff could be incorporated into an attraction to do with the great barrier reef. An attraction based on Aboriginal culture, maybe to do with Dreamtime - the Aborigine's do have the oldest known continuous culture on the Earth, and dare I say base it around Uluru as another mountain type ride (not sure what the Aborigine's would think of that though!). Something based around the unique and incredible animals that can be found in Oz maybe including an attraction to do wih deadly animals as Australia does seem to have some of the most deadly animals - snakes, spiders, fish, english convicts (joking!) etc in the world.

I think, IMHO, that Australia has just as much potential as any new/proposed land, even better, lets have all continents and the sea represented :sohappy:

I hope that AK does grow and grow (it is my fav park), as it has fulfilled some of its potential, but the possibilities are almost endless.

Anything new would be really cool. But I say Beastly Kingdom should be first. IOA's lost continent isn't around fictional animals, it's more myths and legends. Beastly Kingdom Should have to do with Dragons, and sators, and unicorns, Gummi bears, trolls, goblins and gargoyals, etc etc. But anything new would be cool.

I originally posted this thread way back before the DAK Press event when they announced Everest, I was kind of hoping they would announce the next land appearing at DAK, but they haven't. With E:E it looks like a small "land"--In my opinion it will probably be Tibet (to keep with the Everest theme) to accomedate E:E, and couple of places to eat and then shops (maybe some animals), but no new huge land like Asia and Africa. Does this mean that there will be no new land before 2006????
