About MP3s...

Sorry to create a "dumb thread" guys, but I was wondering if I can upload MP3s the same way I do with pics. DisneyTati asked me the "Remember the Magic" parade song, and I thought it'd be easier to just leave it here, if possible. So?

I put the Remember the Magic soundtrack in the chit chat section in .wma format...the quality isn't as good as MP3 but it's better than nothing.

You know, Steve has given us this wonderful site and this wonderful forum. While I’m the last guy to preach about copyrights over something like Disney music in MP3 format (I have my fair share of them) I don’t think it’s such a good idea that we implicate the owner of this site by posting the actual music on here. Since these are moderated forums he can’t claim to not know they are here and although there may be a few pictures gleamed from Disney publications on this site, they don’t pose any kind of risk to profit for the mouse. The music, Disney sells… I can’t speak for the Steve but I think it would be best for you to explore other ways of trading that music. There are a few great programs out there to trade with and most of the popular IM clients allow you to send files. If you are not sure about any of this, I’ll be happy to give you the info. I just like this site a lot and as far as I know, Disney has left it alone and I for one, would like to see it stay that way.

Hey, believe me, Mr. Promey, I don't wanna cause anyone harm. It's just that, to me, Digital Media was more than pics. But everything has benn cleared out, I'll be sending it to her through ICQ.

Don't get me wrong, I share them too. I think Steve had pictures we've taken/made and video that we've taken/made ourselves. Disney has been really cool about copyrights on the internet. A lot of other companies have cracked down hard on fan sites (which seems strange that they would go after their biggest fans)... I was just offering a suggestion so that things would stay that way. I don't speak for Steve by any means.

Actualllllllly....since the files arent hosted on STEVES server..he's safe. The most they could do is give him a slap on the wrist and ask him to remove the links...

This is how we get away with that masssive ride videos thread (which if anything but JUST videos at this point)...its all on a private server, a fast one too ..hehe

ooops..actually in that case you are correct..but there is one smart thing that steve did...he limited the max file size to just under a meg..so any mp3 someone would upload will be either of such poor quality..or so short...that no one would care...but as you stated..Disney seems to not really crack down on internet trading of their sounds...but god help you if you use it on a demo reel or anything else...

You are both right, I cant have MP3s being hosted directly on the forum. Linking (in moderation) is going to be acceptable to me. However, I have to be careful not to appear as a link directory to a huge MP3 archive
