Looks like ABC has taken the Illuminations: ROE theme for the Presidential Inauguration today. If you miss Illuminations, this is a quick fix.

ABC likes to reuse the Illuminations: ROE theme (an upbeat portion in the middle) for a bunch of celebrations, like New Years and what not. Portions seemed to be remixed this time however, perhaps some of the tracks subtracted for variety.

Very odd... it is like a remix. They just did a promo ("GMA is brought to you by Prilosec") -- they used that brief "We Go On" fanfare in the middle of ROE, but then followed it with that little musical gibberish gliassando thingy that usually immediately precedes it (think when all of the lights on World Showcase begin to strobe and twinkle before the go full on at "We Go On"). Weird -- but I'll take it!

Ohh its very weird that you mentioned about using the I ROE theme, I just got back from Disney Land Resort Paris with my school on a Business Studies trip, many schools from the UK were involved in this and we had meetings in a big tent behind their version of Star Tours in Disneyland Park. The funny things is that at the beginning and end of every meeting they showed about a minute and a half video clip of things to do at DLRP and the music that was played to this was the one and only WDW IROE theme tune, I found it rather amusing to hear this all the way in Paris.

Also when walking towards the Bus parking lot justy out side of the Park they were playing the exit medley to Splash Mountain which they don't have in Paris.

:)

I'm not that familiar with Illuminations music, as I've only seen it once, 4 years ago. (I don't have the CD). But its really funny, cause I'm watching ABC, and all of a sudden I got this urge to visit my favorite Disney site for a quick Disney "fix"...which I thought was odd that I was thinking about Disney World while watching the innauguration... now I understand why!

I'm in Canada, but I saw it too. Why are they using a Disney music theme for a Presidential inauguration? (i.e. a political event)
Does anyone else think that's a little strange? :veryconfu

I have a feeling that it has more to do with ABC being owned by Disney and using the music as a subliminal message. They know people attach memories to music and many people will tune in for the inauguration. Seems like the marketing department is pretty good! :)

Just before 11AM, I heard what sounded like a completely new song, but using the same "audio logo" (radio term for string of notes) as the finale of the first track of Illuminations. Sounded like they had pumped the notes into a synthesizer or something. Not bad, though.

They used another EPCOT theme on election night back in November.

I believe they used it when Bush was declared the winner of the election as well. As for why, it's probably because it's a really good piece of music that they already have rights to.

I'm glad that so many people here noticed it! When I heard it this morning, I was all alone and just HAD to tell someone, so I emailed one of my best Disney buds to tell her all about it.
I was happy that it wasn't just the one lead-in either, that they kept going back to it throughout the program!
At least there's one positive thing about this inauguration...Oops, did I say that out loud?!

I highly doubt that there are that many people out there besides us that even recognize what the music is from.

I'm not so sure about this. Research has proven that music (and other senses) is extremely closely tied to memories. Whether you consciously know the exact time and place of when you heard the music, you will know whether it's a happy / sad memory and many times will relate it to the proper circumstance.

But, I'm sure they use it since they have rights and it's great music, but they enjoy the benefits of any visits that MAY come from its usage!

Alas, we don't get ABC in Engalnd, uless you can dig it up inside a Sky channel somewhere. But I seriously don't know what I would do if I was sitting watching TV with my mates and that music came on! I'd probably have to leave the room. :dazzle: Seriously, I get worked up just by reading about the I ROE music on the site I love it so much! :sohappy: It is the most wonderful piece of music ever written!

Apart from IASW!!! :D

Don't hit me! :lookaroun

I just meant that I doubt the theory of it being used as subliminal advertising for Disney. While some people may remember music, the vast majority of Americans have never even seen Illuminations. Thats why I said most would not realize what the music was from.
