ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey confirmed today that the network has discussed possibilities for a Star Wars television series. Dungey told EW that the network is looking to bring the brand, which is underneath the same Disney-owned umbrella as them, onto the network in tghe form of some sort of programming.

“[W]e have had conversations with [Lucasfilm] and will continue to have conversations with them,” Dungey said. “I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming… It’s all a little bit hush-hush. That company exists under a big shroud of secrecy. If you feel Marvel’s secretive, [Lucasfilm] takes it to a whole other level … [Talks] are ongoing. We don’t have an official timeline yet.”

There have been rumors about a potential Star Wars series floating around for years; Lucasfilm reportedly fifty scripted episodes down for a series that was titled Star Wars: Underworld but nothing ever game from that due to potential cost issues. Star Wars is, of course, a huge part of Disney’s cinematic success; The Force Awakens became the top domestic-grossing film of all-time last year and both sequels and spinoffs are on the way starting with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming this December.

I think a star wars show could be awesome but I still think cost could be an issue. I say no go unless they give the budget whatever it needs. I also would like something other than between 3 and 4. I would say KOTOR but I'm holding out for movies on that one.

This could be interesting if done well.
There are so many possible directions they could go with this.

I am interested to hear what time period they decide to set the series within...as in, before or after the films we know, or as something completely new.
I assume new characters will be introduced ( gotta keep that merch moving ) but I would also assume a few references to ones we already know.
