AAA Discounts

Stated in an earlier post you can only book 3 rooms with your AAA card.....

OK here's the ridiculous question:
What about a Grand Gathering? I am charge of the entire lot of family and friends. It looks to be about 8 rooms so far. How would that work? I plan on going into my local AAA office this August to book with my tax rebate.

Also slightly off topic: Is the deposit $200 per room or is the entire group one reservation? Just so I know how much to shake everyone down for before I head over.

We just booked room only for 10 days in March of next year, 2 connecting rooms at Pop and we put $250 down per room. I don't think we had too though. You do have to put something on each room, but I can't remember if it was a percentage of the total or just one night's deposit. I am 99% sure it was only the one night's deposit though. We just put down the extra to help us pay it off quicker. And I think you have until 40 or 45 days before you go to pay the rest off.

Depends what your reserving. A package at AAA reqires a % down, and the rest paid so many days out form your stay.(may be 30) A room only reservation is usually one nights room rate per room reserved. With the room only you can cancel, no charge, within 5 days of the reservation. We just booked a room only for August, because its easier to cancell the room only reservation, because we have issues that may need us to cancell. We have to rooms at POP, and had to put one night deposit per room ($132 total)

AAA doesn't require a % down. We've always only had to pay $200 to reserve the package regardless of the cost, including the deposit for our trip in May.

Disney required that the remainder be paid 45 days in advance. However, AAA has always added an extra week (meaning paying 52 days out) to pay the remainder. Docs come 2 - 4 weeks prior to trip. Guess that means mine will be here super soon!!

Also, in reading the fine print on my AAA reservation, it says a deposit per reservation ... must be received at time of booking. I'm still not clear if that means if you book 10 rooms under one reservation it's still just $200 or what.

We booked 2 rooms at Pop and had to put money down on each room (we put $250 per room). Can't remember if the requirement was $200 per or one night's deposit on each.

Standard WDW room deposit terms (regardless of booking through a travel agent or WDTC -- a TA may add other rules, but that is their choice and not Disney's):

ROOM-ONLY

  • Deposit of one night's room rate + tax due within 14 days of making the reservation (if you wish, you can call back within the 14 days with a credit card number, or you can mail a check). If made online with WDTC, due immediately.
  • Balance due no later than time of check-in. If reservation was made online with WDTC, balance CANNOT be pre-paid in advance (strange but true).

PACKAGE

  • Deposit of $200 due within 14 days of making the reservation (if you wish, you can call back within the 14 days with a credit card number, or you can mail a check). If made online with WDTC, due immediately.
  • Balance due no later than 45 days prior to arrival.
  • If airfare is purchased as part of the package, the full amount of the airfare must be paid IMMEDIATELY (no exceptions).

Canadian or US $$?

Sorry, $US. Of course the rate has been pretty much equal the last half year or so anyway. Good for most Canadians; not for me though. My wife is American and since we live in a border city, she works over in the States. So we can't wait for the good old American dollar to climb back some day soon hopefully.
