AAA Discount Change?

Just read on Orlando Informer that the AAA Discount has changed. Here's where I found it...http://orlandoinformer.com/topic/3553-update-to-the-aaa-discount/

From what it use to do is you show your card and got you got said discount...However according to the post it states that you have to buy your ticket through AAA.com to get the discount. Once purchaced online you get a printout that tells where you can use it and how much the discount is...But, if you purchase it at the front gate with the AAA Card you will get a ticket with the same information...

Has anyone encountered this yet?

That's a universal (pun not intended) change on the part of AAA from what I understand, and applies not only to Universal, but also to Disney and the SeaWorld parks, as well as other ticket-required destinations. No more buying the AAA discounted tickets at the locations, you have to get them online or at a AAA office.

I can appreciate that. But this now sounds like if you go to a restaurant in universal that offers a AAA discount, unless your entrance ticket was purchased at AAA,you can't get the meals discount. Maybe I'm misreading.

I did look at the universal website and the AMEX discount (essentially identical to the aaa discount of old) still exists, so maybe this was pushed by universal and Amex as I know they signed an expanded marketing deal in 2014.

Ok , so indeed that discount is gone. Thanks for confirming. As recently as January we used our aaa card everywhere for discounts. At the time they told us that the aaa and amex discounts were the same so which ever was easier to have in hand.

Looking at the universal website, they list the amex discount still. Though there is mention of showing something from the mobile site, which we never did...I'm not really sure what that means. Any thoughts? We go bck in august and the aaa / amex discount was always nice.

No Problem...When I was there last November All I did was show my card and then I had the discount...I'm glad I saw this or I would have not been happy since I'm going for a week in September..

I used my AAA card to get food discounts in Universal Orlando in Jan 2015. I tried to use it at Universal in Hollywood in March and they said the discount didn't work anymore. I'm bummed to hear this is a permanent change at all of the Universal parks.
