AAA Car Rental Discount

I know AAA members get car rental discounts from Hertz but do you have to reserve it first to get the discount or can you just show up and show them your AAA card to get the discount? Thanks.

If you go to the AAA web site I believe there is a link to Hertz. I found renting from Alamo or National to be less expensive than Hertz even with my discount.

Other companies such as National and Budget are less than the discount with AAA. One thing to note - if you choose National/Alamo make sure you are a member of the Emerald Aisle club. This way you can bybass the line at the counter and go right out, grab a car and leave. National is the car of choice for Disney packages so the line can be quite long at the counter. I waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes a couple of years ago.

I would make the reservation first so that you can guarantee your car. You might be taking a chance by just going to the counter and taking whatever is available.

Van rental from National/Emerald

I tried renting a van in October from National with my emerald number. No such van to be had. So I had to go with Budget. It's by Downtown Disney. I wish they could honor my emerald request and ship in a van for the days I need it.
