AAA booking question

Hi All,

I have always and only ever booked directly through waltdisneyworld.com. Don't really have a good reason why. Just because I did once and then always did after that. So we have AAA so I say they offered a AAA discount. I got a quote and it was exactly the same as what I got and booked through waltdisneyworld.com. They are however offering a gift card up to $100 depending on the price of your package. And they do allow for partial payments, just like through Disney. They said there is a special discount card and a special fireworks area.

My question is, has anyone booked through them? Did you get a discount? Any idea what the discount card is and where is the fireworks area?

Thanks!

The agents at AAA don't always check to see if the AAA discount is available for your stay; many will just run the numbers and give you a quote.

I'd work with a better agent or call Disney direct and ask for the AAA room only rate.

We booked through AAA in 2010 and got a $300 discount through them compared to what Disney quoted. This year the price was exactly the same but we booked through AAA again. Now I'm wishing we'd booked directly through Disney. The reason is because if you want to change anything related to the package, you have to go through AAA and can't just call Disney yourself.

Our agent doesn't seem quite competent this time and we've had to go back to her a few times to get things changed and I'm still not convinced they've been changed.

Now this is just the agent we went through that doesn't mean you won't get a more competent agent but for us going forward if it's not a decent discount we're going to go through Disney directly.

I booked through AAA. I did get a discounted rate for the Royal Guest rooms at Port Orleans Riverside. I didn't get a gift card with my package because I booked in January. There is a special discount card called AAA vacations Diamond Savings Card that saves 10%, 15%, 20%, and other values at participating locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort like Ghirardelli, Wolfgang Puck, and many more locations. 15% off select tours in theme parks. Spa at Saratoga Springs. 10% off at World of Disney store. Other AAA benefits are exclusive AAA diamond parking, preferred Wishes Fireworks viewing location which escapes my mind at this time, Disney Storytime Experience with a disney princess (my daughter is going to love this), and other discounts. It came in the AAA disney brochure that my agent gave me. I hope this helps.

Thank you, this does help. I was told that the price is exactly the same, Royal Rooms are still available, and it includes free dining. The only plus, we would get a $75 gift card if I switch and book through them. I am such a control freak, I am not sure it is worth it to me although a $75 gift card would be great. I have to mull this over. I am not getting the feeling that I have an over zealous agent either.

There's the rub - Disney does not allow "stacking" or combining of discounts - in other words, if you already are getting the free dining offer, you cannot get the AAA discount, even if booking with AAA.

If you didn't want the free dining, and just a regular MYW package, you could possibly be able to get a AAA discount of 10%, 15%, or 20% off of the room rate.

i feel on the not having control thing because if I want to make changes to the room and tickets reservation I have to go through my agent. I can't just call disney myself to make any changes.

Gotcha - that makes sense about the free dining vs the discount of the room rate. We are going to stick with our reservation through disney. Its just not worth changing it even though we would get a gift card.

I do believe the AAA FW viewing area is the little seating area outside in front of the Plaza restaurant at MK. I also believe that it is limited to the number of AAA guests that can use it each night, and that sometimes you will not be able to get a reservation for the viewing area.

The only good thing about booking or getting tickets through AAA that I have found is by driving my car I can use the AAA Diamond parking to park up close.
