Actually, asking for free food at WDW is rather common. Several counter service establishments at WDW now offer carrot sticks, grapes, etc. in place of other unhealthy foods such as french fries. Some adults and children have very poor eating habits and they refuse to eat carrot sticks or grapes. If you observe that these items are about to be thrown away, there is nothing wrong with asking, "Are you going to eat that?". If you are worried about "germs", then just wash the items in question. Why let good, healthy food go to waste?
