Then came time for dessert. I ordered the tiramisu, which was a little frozen in the middle.

Ross ordered the cannoli which… wait for it… they were out of! So he went for the cheesecake instead.

IMG_6641.JPG

I forget what Julia got and apparently did not take a picture.

Hope, my birthday girl, wanted the vanilla gelato. She asked for it with whipped cream. No big deal right?

When the waiter came back, he had a whole story which he proceeded to retell in the most animated way. Honestly, he was such a good storyteller, I would’ve put him on the pedestal outside in the Pavilion to tell his tale! If only his accent didn’t get in the way. However, I managed to get the just of the story…

Apparently, the chef didn’t want to put whip cream on Hope’s vanilla gelato because he says it doesn’t belong there! Our waiter told the chef that it was Hope‘s birthday and that she needed to have whipped cream and a candle on the ice cream. The chef proceeded to argue with him and say absolutely not because whipped cream does not go on vanilla gelato.

Now, I don’t know what the chef thought whipped cream should go on, but I guess the vanilla gelato was not in his recipe book. Our waiter however would not give up and said that he stole a can of whip cream out of the kitchen and proceeded to put the whipped cream on the vanilla gelato just for Hope. He also brought her another treat along with it and of course, a candle to sing happy birthday.

She didn’t eat the special treat. - Ross and I did because we didn’t want to just leave it and make our waiter feel bad- he was so proud of it!

He also got a nice tip from us. But I don’t think we will be visiting Via Napoli anytime in the near future.

We were given our tickets and we headed out.

We had a return time for Remy so we headed towards France.

IMG_6650.JPG

The 6:45pm candlelight processional was just getting ready to be let in. The line was CRAZY!! It extended well past Morocco. And that was the dinner package line - not even stand by! After we did Remy and then decided to get in the omg line for the 8:15 show.

We made the right decision. We settled in the line around Japan and just waited. Hope was able to sit on the ground without a gazillion people stepping on her

After the show, we wanted to head to Disney Springs, but little Miss Hope decided she needed to watch Luminous. Julia and I really had no care to, so Ross took Hope to see the fireworks while Julia and I shopped in a few stores and walked around the UK pavilion. I caught some of the fireworks while Julia took a restroom break.

We met at the International Gateway and walked over and through Beach Club to get a bus to Disney Springs.

We were still pretty full from dinner so we just looked around it. I think Hope picked up a couple things, but I honestly forgot what and I didn’t take too many pictures. I did take a picture of this.

Julia and I both had been eyeing this, and it was on our list so we decided to split it. It was really good, but so decadent. I can’t imagine eating the whole thing by myself. Even the two of us couldn’t finish the whole thing. But it was definitely worth it! Julia and I both love peppermint - so this is our season!

After that, we had it on out and back to the resort into bed. We were all looking forward to the next day. Which would be a different kind of day for us.

We noticed that at the end of the ride, one of the sections was missing in the area where the walls go down, and the wind blows in your face.

As we exited the ride, Hope saw Figment and noticed that there was practically no line to meet him waiting to meet him. How could we possibly pass up the opportunity to meet our favorite dragon? But can I just ask why they do not dress him in his holiday sweater?

And as of yesterday the screen is still down. Where is the love for Figment?

Wow... Yeah... I really thought they would have announced a complete renovation and a new ride by now. I still wish they would would bring back the original. I suppose we can still dream...

So jealous you got to see Gary Sinise as he is one of my favourite actors. Love your trip report.
OMG... he was amazing!! He has been a favorite of mine since Of Mice and Men. He joked about being "fired" from Mission Space - it was really funny. He also spoke about his foundation, which I didn't know a lot about before. So much good work he does - I love him!! Thanks for reading along!!

Our dinner reservation was for 4 PM at Via Napoli. My mouth was watering for the beef filet. Reading @Tuvalu Past TR’s, made me so excited for this

I also tried to remember the drink that Em always gets, I think I got it – it was the Tequila Sunrise. Did I get it right? Regardless, it was really good. I should have ordered a couple more. I had talked up the beef filet so much, Ross decided that’s what he absolutely wanted! When we gave our order, the waiter informed us that they did not have the filet tonight. Yup, it all went down from there!
Sweet friend, you have confused Via Napoli with Mama Melrose (at DHS). Mama’s has Em’s favorite margarita and the amazing steak with four cheese mac & cheese.

We love Via Napoli for its pizza and frozen strawberry limoncellos. Sorry to learn you had a less-than-stellar experience.

That's hilarious... I guess I need to pay a little more attention when reading your TR's!!! 🤣 🤣

Day 8, December 16

Today was a very all over the place kind of day for us. Originally, today was a Magic Kingdom day. However, with Julia being sick on Saturday, we moved things around. One thing I changed was our morning breakfast ADR and I was so happy that the restaurant had availability for today.

So our morning began taking the Skyliner over towards Epcot.

However, Epcot was not our first destination of the day...

Once we got to Epcot, we tagged into the park and then walked right back out. I did that so I could get a return time for Soarin for later on in the day. This was the park where we wanted to end up at. I was also able to get a VQ for GoG.

Then we headed over to the boardwalk….

I didn’t think there was a breakfast that I would like better than the hallelujah biscuit over at Homecoming or the Tonga Toast over at the Polynesian, but I think I met my match today at this restaurant with their Eggs al Forno! They are so delicious!!
IMG_6733.JPG

I did ask the waitress if I could possibly have a smaller portion, but apparently they don’t do that. I just hate wasting so much and no one else in my family would touch that dish. Sad, sad, sad!

Julia ordered pancakes, which were the most odd looking pancakes I had ever seen. They were thick and fluffy. She said they were delicious and really enjoyed her breakfast. I may have snuck a bite or too. And yes, they were delicious!

When we were done, as stuffed as I was, I had to order an iced coffee to go. They have the most delicious iced coffee!

We all walked around the boardwalk for a little bit. Julia went inside the Boardwalk gift shop and shopped a little bit. She was looking for the holiday pin from the boardwalk, but unfortunately, they didn’t have any. However, I do think she found one later on in the week in Disney Springs at Pin Traders.

I had to tell myself it was too early…

It was a beautiful day and we began our journey over towards the Swan and Dolphin.

The girls both wanted to play mini golf, which was fine with me because it’s a fun time! And since we get a free game with our annual pass, why not?

We were having a good time, but of course, do you see those clouds in the sky?

IMG_6776.JPG

Sure enough, they opened up and the rain started to pour down. We saw cover under one of the umbrellas along the course and threw our ponchos on.

Luckily, it didn’t last long. And we went right back to our game.

Next on our list was to check out the monorail hotels and all the gingerbread offerings. We wanted to get a bus to take us to Magic Kingdom so we walked over to the Dolphin to take a bus.

IMG_6780.JPG

I was surprised to see the display here. It was beautiful! And what a change, no gingerbread here just chocolate!

After admiring the chocolate goodness of it all, we headed out to the bus stop and waited for the bus to Magic Kingdom. Two things were different at the Dolphin… One was the bus wasn’t going to go directly to Magic Kingdom - it will drop us at the TTC. Two… it wasn’t a regular transport bus, it was a charter bus like what was used in magical express.

They were very few people who were on the bus and it was very comfortable!

IMG_6791.JPG

While we were on the bus, I mentioned to Ross that I would LOVE to stay at the Dolphin/Swan and his response was…

Once we got to the TTC, we walked over to take the monorail to Magic Kingdom. We were thinking about taking the ferry because Hope is never done that before, but it looks like it was going to start raining again so we decided to go for the monorail.

Now the plan was to go directly to the resort monorail and start going around to see gingerbread, but my monster loving daughter couldn’t be that close to Magic Kingdom without seeing Mike one more time… and my older monster loving daughter was all for it!

After we visited the monster world for a bit, we headed back out to the park out of the park and headed towards the Contemporary. Even though we had seen this display earlier in the week, everyone wanted to see it one more time. Well, the girls and I wanted to see it one more time. Ross was just along for the ride.

IMG_6830.JPG

Up Next was the Polynesian. I was kind of sad that they didn’t do any gingerbread display. I thought we missed it last year, but I guess they just don’t do one here. However, what they do is Dole Whip floats!

IMG_6833.JPG

We all got a pineapple float and enjoy them thoroughly. I tried the new seasonal one… it’s cute, and I do love lime, but I’ll stick with the pineapple and coconut ice cream next time.

IMG_6837.JPG
IMG_6846.JPG

Yet… we all managed to enjoy them!!

Next was the gingerbread granddaddy of them all, the Grand Floridian!

It was absolutely gorgeous! I was so happy it wasn’t so crazy and crowded. We got in line to walk around the gingerbread house and purchased some goodies. I have no idea why I didn’t take a picture of them? We bought one of the shingles and a couple other treats.
