Trip Report A Very Delsym Disney!

This is my VERY first trip report so be prepared...it may suck :)
I did a pre-trip report but it was very lame and basically only consisted of me whining every hour or so during my last 2 days at work. You can read it here if you want...
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/i-am-trying-to-can-right-now-but-literally-cant.904881/
but like I said...lame.

First let me give you a rundown of our trip attendees :)
Me - Jenn 40, (we left to drive down on my big 4 0 :))
My hubby, Tom 43
My mom, Leona 61
My oldest daughter, Robin 21
My youngest daughter, Willow 16
And My son, Shade 6

This trip was literally our first family vacation in 10 years to the date! We arrived at WDW on 9/18/2005 and arrived this time on 9/18/2015 :). We are from Chicago and moved to Lexington, KY 9 years ago...my mom followed us shortly after. Since then we have used every hour of PTO to go home and visit with family. This year we were greedy and used it for ourselves lol. Our countdown started at 477 days and it actually didn't take as long as I had expected it to. I wish I would have made a better pre-trip report because I planned the heck out of this vacation and it would have been fun to document...oh well, next time :)

I am at work so I will try to post as much as I can when I can and I will try really hard not to ramble and/or be too boring :)

To be continued...

Enjoying your TR! It stinks to be sick in Disney. A few years ago, we had to bring my daughter to Urgent Care during our trip with a temp of 104! Thanks for sharing the meltdown story - we have definitely had our share as well so I can totally relate! Looking forward to reading more!

Oh no, I'm sorry! In retrospect I probably should have brought Willow somewhere...I wonder if she had strep to be honest. Another parent fail on my part...booo. I hope to post more tomorrow night once we're home. Thanks for reading!!!

Day Five - 9/21/2015...Part One Blizzard Beach

This day was pretty awesome. I was kind of stressing about it because I haven't been to a water park since 2006 at Six Flags and before that since the mid 90s at River Country! So I wasn't sure I would even have fun, plus we kept going back and forth in the planning stages as to whether or not we would do BB or Typhoon Lagoon. Ultimately we chose BB and I can't even remember why TBH, but it ended up being a really good choice!
We also rented a Polar Patio - my husband and son are social butterflies, the girls and I have kind of a love/hate relationship with people and my mom can be kind of rude sometimes so I thought it was a good idea, at least because of the girls, my mom and myself. For those of you that don't know what it is or what you get I will give you a quick run down...it was off season so it was only about $238.00 and you got towels, a cooler filled w/water bottles and ice, a locker on the actual patio, 6 refillable mugs, and a "cabana boy" type person, also...and this is the best part...an area that seats 6 people all to yourself w/lounge chairs and an umbrella. Like I said, maybe for a lot of you that is not worth the money but for me I almost don't think I would ever NOT do it. I also didn't think I would make use of the "cabana boy" dude but we did...but I force a tip on him at the end of the day. He took our lunch orders and brought the food out and made sure we had whatever we needed. He also grabbed a couple of drinks for my mom and Robin at one point.
We got there pretty much right after they opened and stayed until they closed @ 5. I am not going to lie, you guys. I was pretty happy to see that Slush Gusher and Summit Plummet were closed. I knew if they were opened that there was no way I was going to get out of them with the girls but I was a little nervous about riding them - mainly just Summit Plummet because I've heard it kind of hurts so - no thanks. I had no idea that their closings had such an impact on the park all week though. Our "cabana boy" dude, (his name was Tyler) said they were having a hard time pumping water to the tops of the slides. We went on all remaining slides except for the Downhill Double Dipper and I have no reason whatsoever as to why we skipped it. Teamboat Springs was fun and of course we did the Toboggan Racers which Shade and the girls loved! I feel bad because other than Teamboat Springs, Cross Country Creek and the tube slides in the kid's area my husband didn't do much because he can't swim. I know once before we met he had to be pulled out by a lifeguard from the pool at the bottom of a water slide :( I guess he is still scarred by it because he didn't even care to do the slides that didn't spit you out into a pool of water. He swore up and down he was still having fun though and wants to go back and also said that next time he will do the Toboggan Racers because it looked like a ton of fun when he was watching us at the end of the day.
I have zero pics of the water park. I grabbed the only two that my husband had snapped and I will also try and upload a video he took of Shade on the zip line. I just kept my phone and camera locked up all day since water and technology rarely mixes well so I never had the chance to take any pics...bummer.

Shade at the start of the day being lazy/bored? We JUST got there at this point...

And later in the kid's area...

I forgot to mention that when I was on Snow Stormers I did something to my arm. I don't even know what either beause I don't recall hurting myself at any point. All I know is that when I got off I felt something weird on my arm...slightly painful. When I looked it had a welt the size of a quarter but more oval and it was literally turning green in front of my eyes. I have never seen such a thing. By the end of the day it was no longer a welt but it was the circumference of a baseball and the deepest purple ever. I told my husband to take a pic but I can't find it now. I may have even deleted it because I remember thinking it didn't even do it justice lol.

Day Five - 9/21/2015 Part Two SciFi and Fantasmic

By the time we changed our clothes and packed up at BB I felt we should go straight to Hollywood Studios. We had an ADR at 7:45 for SciFi and I was afraid after parking, the tram and bag check that we should be safe and not stop back at the resort but we ended up having a pretty significant amount of time to kill once we got there. We decide to see the Frozen Sing-Along since it was just about to start. I actually really enjoyed it! Spoiler Alert!! I thought it was really cool when it snowed at the end!! Here's the thing...I like the movie, my kids like the movie but that's pretty much it...we are not die hard fans yet every time the movie happens to be on I find Willow, Shade and myself almost glued to the TV. Like we're not even aware of it either. Apparently it has an effect on my husband too...he went out to get us something to eat this week and he said he caught himself singing along to Let It Go when it came on the radio and even left it on once he noticed. He has also said several times since that he really enjoyed the sing-along. Anyway by the time that was over it was pretty much time to head over to SciFi.
So for about two weeks before our trip I was seriously considering cancelling this ADR. Just something about the way we were going to be seated was not appealing to me at all. I didn't want to sit at the table that's more table than car but I also did not want to sit 2 by 2s in front of each other...it just sounded so awkward. I am REALLY glad I didn't cancel though! It was SO yummy! The food was so good - I got a mushroom swiss burger and the fries were GREAT! They were steak fries and not at all those skinny crap things at the parks for the QS...sorry, but I do not like those at all :( My husband and Willow got the steak and they loved it. My mom and Robin were all the way in the back and I just cannot remember what they got at this point but I know they were really impressed too. Between the 6 of us we were able to try the turtle cheesecake, the warm glazed doughnut, a couple of shakes and the candy bar. The cheesecake was the best by far! I would definitely go back.
I was a little nervous while we were eating because I had a made a FP back at the 60 day mark for Fantasmic for this night. I know this probably seemed like an amateur move but I know my mom really liked this show and I wanted to do what I could to make sure she saw it. My hope was that we could see it tonight and then not have to worry about it on Thursday when we came back to do the actual park. I also did not want to eat at any of the places that offer the special seating. Luckily we made it to the show but the FP did us NO good lol. I mean after we scanned our bands we were literally just walking next to people without FPs and it's not even like a rope was between us. I am assuming it's because we showed up towards the end of the window but it's all good. We made it in with about 10 minutes to spare and could not have had better seats - right in the middle of it all...so awesome!

Frozen Sing-Along...

Hooray for your trip report! I just finished the first page :) I am sooooo glad we didn't hit much traffic in Atlanta coming or going. We hit just a little coming home because there was a ballgame, but it wasn't as bad as normal. Sorry you had to deal with it :(

Love the photos from Characters in Flight! I've never done that before, so it's neat to see that vantage point. Ok, off to read some more :)

I can't see most of the pictures either. I don't know your method for posting, but what I do is upload everything to photobucket then use the direct links to post them here. It's pretty easy! Either way, the ones I've seen are great :)

As for the tantrum, I'm sure that was tough for your husband! I don't have kids, but I can imagine you'd feel really helpless when your kid is melting down and you know you can't really do anything. But people understand! Even me, a person who honestly gets kind of annoyed by kids (the whining, the screaming...you know), I totally understand that it's just part of it. No judgement! Also, sorry you guys spent your trip sick :( Looks like it didn't slow you down though!

Thanks! The traffic wasn't too bad because we at least could look forward to our destination :)

I will have to try that. I have tried everything from downloading from my picture files to just copying and pasting. It's frustrating :(
