A UFO Has (Crashed) Landed!

CRASHED
UFO ^ landed!

The idea is to transform the CoP building into a UFO that has crash landed! Around the UFO, on the outside of the building, a giant fresh crater outlines the perimeter, complete with skid marks. The UFO "just crashed" moments ago and smoke is billowing from the ground under it. Small furry cat-sized aliens of a variety of rainbow colors holding tools and wearing helmets are inspecting the various electronics throughout the outside of the spacecraft. The sliding doors of the object have opened and the retractable ramp leading to the entrance is lowered to the ground. From the outside, we hear the alien voices of GOO and LUE arguing loudly (in English with a NY accent) over who's fault it is for crashing the spacecraft. Near the ramp, Hexamonabijibolothy ("Call me Bob"), a furry dog-sized red alien with four legs and six arms and hands, seizes the opportunity to profit from the misfortune, offering "tours" of the crashed ship - for a price. He collects people's cash with his six hands and stuffs it down his pants (there's dollar bills sticking out everywhere).

Once we enter the spacecraft, after an initial scare (the aliens are scared of us), the aliens show us around their messy space ship (which they are embarrassed about), while hurrying to clean it at the same time. The lights flicker on and off as the electric system works and fails and works again and fails again. The floor begins to vibrate and we are rushed into a seated passenger lounge. We are told to sit down, fasten our seat belts, that the ship has been fixed, that it will take off shortly, and that they have no control over it, apologizing to whom may have had plans.

There's a sudden jolt that would throw us from our seats if we weren't wearing seat belts. The UFO spins around very fast. From the windows, we can see that we have left Earth's atmosphere and, soon, we see the stars of space.

From this point, there would be an adventure story, explaining why the aliens were chased to Earth. This story seems to have repeated itself, chasing us back to Earth, where we will safely land... safely CRASH land back to Earth (home sweet home)!

I think you posted this early, there's still 102 days until April fools.

Unless you're actually serious about replacing CoP, but that couldn't be it :hilarious:

Because your proposing the destruction of one of the most Iconic rides in the history of Disney Parks. IF disney ever destroyed CoP I would follow the CEO singing Its a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow to them every waking our until they rebuild it.

CoP, in my opinion, is the last connection Walt Disney World has to Walt Disney. I hope that I never have to see the day where it gets replaced.

I was just making a joke on my last comment, nice concept.
I hear you, but it's so dated that it's not even funny. Pirates of the Caribbean was the last attraction at DL that Walt personally supervised. He also supervised DL's It's a Small World. Like CoP, IASW was introduced at the NY World's Fair. Personally, I think they should move IASW to EC and rebuild it back to its original form. Even though the WDW IASW and PotC are abridged versions of Walt's DL originals, these rides were "touched" by Disney. Tiki Birds was too but they messed with it and I guess so was Jungle Cruise l, the layout of the MK, and others were in the planning stages while Walt was alive.

I know Walt played a part in more than CoP, that just feels like his attraction to me. I don't know if it's the way it expresses his vision for the future, or just the fact it has his name on the facade. I just know I adore it and think removing it would be like spitting on his corpse. PotC and IASW don't have the same feel in my opinion. I think it's because Walt poured so much of what he found interesting into CoP, where on PotC and IASW he simply used his creative skills to make some great attractions.

I am also completely against upgrading the show scenes. A refurb would be great, but the 80s scene in the show is what makes the experience for me. It really puts into perspective what we thought might happen and makes you think about what went wrong along the way. And who doesn't love comparing the virtual reality gaming to the Kinect or the Wii? I always adored that part because it wasn't too far from the truth. We had things in the 80s like the Nintendo Power Glove and the Virtual Boy!

Anyway, I'm getting a bit off topic here. What I'm trying to say is I think CoP is like a bottle of Scotch, it just gets better with age. I hope in 100 years my great grandkids can visit MK and watch CoP in its current form. Then maybe they can have their eyes opened by the wonders of the past and the promises of the future.

I'm totally with you... Just some points... First, have you been to DL? PotC and IASW are totally different experiences there. Well, not totally different, but more immersive. It takes you to another place and time and for a while there, it achieves suspension of disbelief. The Florida counterparts do not achieve that. For example, on PotC, it starts on the rivers of New Orleans, and you see a man sitting by the river paying a banjo, as you are taken into the darkness, all you see are fireflies, then it goes totally dark and you feel the wind and turbulence of an approaching storm and you are taken down a waterfall and feel the water mist. When the storm calms, you realize you're not in New Orleans any more and somehow you have ended up in the Caribbean. All the familiar scenes from Florida are there but, instead of cheap shortcuts, like background paintings, there 3D sets in a panoramic 36o view. Small World isn't like that, but it's not "rushed" like the Florida version is and is a nice long pleasant and relaxing ride for when you've been on your feet all day.

Back to CoP, I don't know if the World's Fair version had a 60's last scene or not, but the 80's last scene was definitely not there. If it did have a 60's scene, then to really respect Walt, it should be added back in. Also, did you know that Horizons was the sequel to CoP,
showing the future afterwards and staring the same family?

Disneyland is my all time favorite park. I agree, the PotC and Small World are vastly superior there. I feel a lot more "Walt" in the attractions and lands there, if that makes sense. That's kind of what I was saying, CoP is the only attraction I get that vibe from at WDW.

Your post made me do some research and you're right, the 80s scene wasn't in the original (the 60s scene was). It's hard to believe they envisioned it that way in 1981!

I never knew that about Horizons. I've read everyone's posts about them loving it with a passion but never actually watched a video of it. I might have to jump onto martin's vids and watch the tribute.
